The POWTS consists of a 1000 gallon Weeks Concrete Products septic tam with a Zabel / A-100 effluent filter and two 3 foot by 69 foot Biodiffrcer soil absorption unwhes. The J purpose of the evaluation was to continue using the POWTS for a 3 bedroom house rebuilt on the existing foundation. The residence had burned which causes a concern over how much ash and debris was droned into the septic lank and subseruently into the trenches. There appeared to be about 8 inches of ash settled out in the tads. It is recommended that the rmdc he pumped and backwashed unfit the ash is eliminated. According to the record on file at the County, both ends of the trenches had vent pipes on them. The vent pipes on the end of the touches closet to the tank were not fond and were apparently filled over as was the conk. Because the vent pipes were not located, the extent that the ash travelled could not be determined. The amount of fill over the presumed location of the trenches may exceed the allow able cover for the l3ioditfe r chambers. The vent pipes on the North end of the system were accessible and did not show an influx of ash, but the west trench had roots in is Trees have been allowed to grow directly on top ofthe system which could have a detrimental effect on the system. his recommended that the Trees be cut off and killed.
