Present: Vern Dull, Leon Berenschot, Art Jensen, Chris Bethke, Ronald Raymond, Jim Janke,
Kim Reaman, Dave Fodroczi, and George Hayducsko.
The meeting was called to order at 12:30 p.m.

Chris Bethke moved that the previous meeting's minutes be approved. Ronald Raymond
seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Art Jensen moved that the vouchers be approved. Chris Bethke seconded the motion. Motion
carried.
Administrative Report
Introduced Leon Berenschot, new committee member, replaced spot vacated by Tom Dorsey.
Jensen moved that Chris Bethke be nominated to Vice Chair. Raymond seconded the motion.
Passed with unanimous ballot.
Will begin meeting with Planning Department's Report at 12:30 followed by Extension
Committee.
4-H & Youth Agent's Report
Plat Book Update -- The plat book committee decided to stage a photograph with the

completed quickly was developed. Committee members have volunteered to contact
township chairs and/or clerks once they have received the township map(s) to be proofed.
Committee members will offer assistance in proofing and establish a date to pick up the
proofed map(s) within a couple of days. Delivery of new plat books is expected by late
October.
Family Camp -- The St. Croix County Societal and Domestic Violence Coalition and the
Baldwin/Woodville Community That Cares group have been very helpful in moving the
Family Camp forward. To date sponsors for 11 families have been secured through these
two community groups. Several individual coalition members have volunteered to help lead
the educational program which is focused on reducing violence in families and recognizing
violence in communities.

4-H Leaders' Recognition Banquet -- Date set for October 8, 1996 at the Coachman in
Baldwin. Chris Bethke volunteered to help Reaman hand out awards to 4-H Leaders. The
program will highlight St. Croix County 4-H members. 1996 Grand and Reserve Grand
Champion County Fair exhibits and 4-H trips will be displayed. The Dry Run Go -Getters
will be asked to perform their musical which was selected for Farm Progress Days at the
District Talent Explosion and Jeff John, who was selected for the State Drama Company will
share his experiences and lead the audience in a drama activity.
National 4-H Week Promotions -- National 4-H Week is October 6-13. The traditional 4-H
Window Display Contest will be held during the week, radio spots featuring 4-H
Ambassadors will be aired, and news releases will be run in the local papers. Individual
clubs also conduct local promotions during National 4-H Week. One example, Rolling Hills
and Rockin' Riders 4-H Clubs will hand out 4-H fliers to every 3rd and 4th grader in their
school district.
Legislative Audit -- Reaman will be one of several agents to participate in the Legislative
Audit of UW-Extension on September 12 at the Eau Claire County Extension Office.
Discussion will include needs assessments, evaluation of teaching and programs, writing of
plans and reports, working with community groups and other partnerships.
Resource Agent's Report
Planning for the Agricultural Clean Sweep chemical collection is progressing. News releases
have been run by county papers. Information has been sent to each farmer in the county.
Small business management counseling is scheduled for September 23 in Hudson. Janke
indicated that these counseling sessions are sometimes held in Baldwin or New Richmond
and could be held in other communities if there was interest.
Several small business workshops are scheduled for New Richmond this fall.
Janke has been working with the Planning Department to organize a visioning workshop for
the county development plan. It is scheduled for September 7 at UW-River Falls. The
Steering Committee, plus 17 members from the general public, are invited.
Planning Department's Report
Fodroczi reviewed a list of August vouchers totalling $506.74. Jensen moved that the July
vouchers be approved as presented. Berenschot seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Committee members concurred that the Planning Department Report should be presented first
on the agenda beginning with the October meeting.
Newsletter - Hayducsko distributed copies of the Fall, 1996 issue of the "Your Wasteline"
newsletter. He reviewed the overall content, layout and distribution. The front page feature
article focused on the integrated hazardous waste program to be held on September 21, 1996.

1996 Hazardous Waste Collection Program - Hayducsko gave a final update to the
Committee on preparations for the integrated hazardous waste clean sweep program to be
held on Saturday, September 21st. Drop-off sites will be offered in Hammond, Hudson, and
New Richmond. Small businesses will be able to participate for a fee by pre -registering.
Fodroczi invited Committee members to stop by any of the sites to see the program in
action.
Recycling Grant Funds Distribution - Hayducsko reported on distribution of 1995 and 1996
recycling grant funds to member municipalities. The Wisconsin DNR will release our final
1995 allocation on October 4, 1996. Staff will submit a proposed initial allocation for 1996
funds at the same time so both checks are distributed together. Staff have been advising
communities that recycling funds might decline beginning in 1997.
1997 Recycling Grant Application - Hayducsko indicated that he is continuing to *meet with
community recycling contacts to develop the 1997 grant application. The application has a
deadline of September 30th.
Raymond moved to adjourn at 2:30 p.m. Bethke seconded the motion. Motion carried.
