CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at
9 :10 a.m. by Chairman, Myrtle Munns .
ROLL CALL: Members present were Larry
Weisenburger, Herb Giese, Lee Kellaher, Andy Germain,
Myrtle Munns, Roberta Moe, Delores Loock and Mary
Lou Smith. Phil Hammer was absent. Also present were
Cindy Icard, Sandy Gehrmann, Jonna Fedie, Barb
Blaisdell, Elma Liberty, Carol Gorke, Jean VandeBerg,
Lorraine Jacobs, Peggy Patterson, Janice Thompson,
Elinor Nelson, Sherry Crosby, Kathryn Grottenhuis, and
Ethel Peterson.
ADOPTION OF AGENDA: A motion was made by
Larry Weisenburger and seconded by Andy Germain to
adopt the agenda; motion carried.
DATE OF NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be
June 20, 1996.
ACTION ON PREVIOUS MIl S: A motion was
made by Herb Giese and seconded by Andy Germain to
accept March minutes as printed; motion carried.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Letters to Clergy and Physicians: The letters were
distributed at the March meeting. A motion was made by
Larry Weisenburger and seconded by Mary Lou Smith to
send the letters out with no changes; motion carried.
Card Tournament Results: The tournaments have been
taking place for the last four years. Somerset won this
year. The tournament was enjoyed by all.
Volunteer Recognition Evaluation: one hundreed
fifty-four volunteers attended. The food was very good
and overall response was excellent.

Budget:
The 1996 budget
has been approved.
Final
allocations
are to be released
mid
-June.
NEW BUS�SS:
Conference Reports: Discussion on State reorganization
of Long Term Care. At the Aging Network Training it
was emphasized that this is not the time to make quick
changes we need to have well thought out long range
plans. Aging programs will probably be the "one stop
shop" (access point for intake) . Discussed the future of
Area Agency on Aging in the state. The Council on
Aging recommends studying the option that every County
become its own Area Agency on Aging.
A letter of thanks was sent to Clarence Malick for his
contributions to the Council on Aging and the Hudson
Center Board. Ethel Peterson will be replacing him on
the Council.
County Fair: The County Fair will be July 25-28. The
volunteer schedule is as follows: Thursday, 9-4, Deer
Park; Thursday, 2-9, Hudson; Friday, 9-4, Woodville; 2-
9, Somerset; Saturday, 9-4, New Richmond; Saturday, 2-
9, Baldwin. Sunday will be pack -up day. The Senior
Centers again will do displays. The Senior Citizen Open
Class was discussed.
Staff Reports:
A motion was made by Andy Germain and seconded by
Mary Lou Smith to accept JoAnne Matysik as the
Council's representative to the Advisory Committee of the
Area Agency on Aging. Motion carried.
The NAPIS Quarterly reports were done manually the
first quarter because we do not have a computer program
for it yet.
Senior Citizen Day will be May 30th. A fine lineup of
educational and recreational opportunities will be avaible.
The deadline for the cookbook is Wednesday, May 22nd.
It will be delivered in time for the County Fair.
The Pan Handlers are a new Kitchen Band from
Somerset. Contact the Somerset Senior Center for a
scheduleing number.
The Council needs a replacement for Myrtle Munns on
the Long Term Support committee. Myrtle has resigned.
The Council recommends Joan Richie be appointed to the
committee.
The Center Board Coalition will meet on July 9th at 1 e 30
and will work on United Way applications. Bring your
requests and itemized request sheets
The Aging & Handicapped Transportation, Inc. will meet
on May 22nd .
Stacy Soderquist will be interning in the Office for the
Summer. She is a student at U.W.-Stout.
Council elections will run two months behind schedule.
SITE/CENTER REPORTS:
DEER PARK: Anniversary Party will be next week.
Participants enjoyed the card tournament. Larry
Weisenburger will be the representative from the Deer
Park area for another three years on the Council.
GLENWOOD CITY: U.W. Stout student did interviews
with the participants. 80 Strings Around the World will
be presented on June 13th. The Center Board is working
with the Lions Club to get air-conditioning in the Senior
C enter .
BALDWIN: Did not have a meeting.
HUDSON: The participants enjoy videos on Mondays.
Dr. Dale Anderson did a presentation sponsored by
Atrium. Pepper Fest plans are being made. Will invite
other Senior Centers for mini card tournaments.
Recreation trips are being planned.
NEW RICHMOND: End of March there was a
presentation on home safety. On June 14 and 15th, will
be selling brats and hot dogs at More 4 for a fundraiser.
A motion was made by Delores Loock and seconded by
Andy Germain to permit the Senior Center use the
Nutrition Program roaster for the fundraiser; motion
carried. Started making recycled cards last Tuesday.
SOMERSET: The participants were excited about
winning the Spring Card Tournament. Cleared $371.00
on the raffle.
WOODVILLE: Participants enjoyed the Card
Tournament. In June, Martha Mabis will come and do a
salad presentation. Planning a picnic.
A motion was made by Larry Weisenburger and seconded
by Andy Germain to adjourn meeting at 11: 40 a.m.;
motion carried.
