Present: Bieraugel, Cassellius, Irwin, Knutson, McLaughlin, and
Woll.
Absent: Plourde
Others: Bob Boche, Mary Ellen Brue, Lillann Bryce, Sonya Carlson,
Maureen Farrell, Barb Gardner, Carla Hardy, Mary
Hemenway, Barb Ickler, Bob Ickler, Bev Jacobson, John
Krizek, Lissa List, Martha Mabis, Helen Schmidt, Norma
Scott, and Greg Timmerman.
The meeting was called to order by President Bieraugel. Motion by
Irwin, seconded by Cassellius to adopt the agenda. Motion carried.
Next scheduled meeting will be October 3, 1996 at the County
Library in Hammond. Motion by Knutson, seconded by Cassellius to
approve the August 19, 1996, minutes as published. Motion carried.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Request to Discuss Levy Exemption and Selection of St. Croix County
Library Board Members with the St. Croix County Board of
Supervisors: Bieraugel felt that this covered two separate areas
and should be dealt with separately. Motion by Woll, seconded by
Knutson that the Library Board request time on the agenda of the
St. Croix County Board, to discuss levy exemption. Motion carried.
Boche was present to inform the Board that the Chair of the County
Board is the sole person responsible for making Committee
appointments.
County Library Levy: Farrell reviewed with the Board letters
received from Larry Nix, Department of Public Instruction, and Greg
Timmerman, Corporation Counsel, on the levy exemption issue. Woll
distributed copies of a letter he wrote to Larry Nix requesting
that the Department of Public Instruction request an Attorney
General's opinion on the levy exemption issue.
St. Croix County Library Budget: Farrell distributed summary
sheets for the 1997 budget which reflect the action the Board took
to approve the budget on August 19, 1996.
NEW BUSINESS:
WISCAT on the Internet: Farrell reviewed with the Board the
information she received from Mary Clark, Reference & Loan Library,
Madison, regarding WISCAT on the Internet.
Director's Report: Farrell shared with the Board the new Books -by -
Mail fall supplement which is available to St. Croix County
residents only.
Financial Activity Report: Motion by McLaughlin, seconded by Woll
to approve the August, 1996 Financial Activity Report. Motion
carried.
September Vouchers: Motion by Cassellius, seconded by McLaughlin
to approve the September, 1996 vouchers. Motion carried.
Motion by Woll, seconded by McLaughlin to adjourn. Motion carried.
Meeting adjourned. 10:45 A.M.
