Present: Bieraugel, Cassellius, Irwin, McLaughlin, Plourde, and
Woll.
Absent: Knutson.
Other: Jack Breault, Sonya Carlson, John Krizek, Ron Raymond,
Maureen Farrell, and Mary Hemenway.
The meeting was called to order by President Bieraugel. Motion by
Plourde, seconded by Cassellius to adopt the agenda. Motion
carried. Next regular Library Board meeting will be September 5,
1996, at the County Library. Motion by Irwin, seconded by
McLaughlin to approve the June 6, 1996 minutes. Motion carried.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Library Automation Cost Study Committee Report: Raymond reviewed
with the Board the process the Committee followed and their final
report.
NEW BUSINESS:
Circulation Survey: Copies of the 1995/96 circulation survey were
reviewed.
Computer Proposal: Motion by Woll, seconded by McLaughlin to
support Director Farrell's proposal. Motion carried 4 to 2.
St. Croix County Library Budget: Farrell discussed proposed
increases in two line items and requested direction from the Board.
The Board agreed to table budget discussion until August 19, 1996,
9 a.m., when a special meeting to discuss the budget will be held
at the St. Croix County Library.
Library Books by Mail Budget: Farrela reviewed with the Board the
1997 Books by Mail Budget.
Hudson Public Library: Farrell informed the Board that there has
been discussion about the idea of a joint library in the Hudson
area. Irwin clarified that the discussion concerned exemption from
the county library levy, not the formation of a joint library.
Motion by Woll, seconded by Plourde to direct Farrell to contact
the Division for Libraries and Community Learning in Madison for an
interpretation of the statutes relating to exemption from the
county library levy and to learn exactly what is being proposed in
the Hudson area. Motion carried.
Director's Report: For the second year, St. Croix County Library
will participate in an Internet grant through the Indianhead
Federated Library System. Also participating are the public
libraries in Baldwin, Deer Park, Hudson, Somerset, and Woodville.
Motion by Cassellius, seconded by Irwin to accept the Director's
Report. Motion carried.
Financial Activity Report: Motion by Plourde, seconded by
Cassellius to accept the July Financial Activity Report. Motion
carried.
July and August Vouchers: Motion by Woll, seconded by Plourde, to
approve the July and August Vouchers. Motion carried.
Motion by Cassellius, seconded by Irwin to adjourn. Motion
carried.
