ST. CROIX COUNTY LIBRARY BOARD MEETING
ST. CROIX COUNTY GOVERNMENT CENTER HUDSON
May 9, 1996 12:33 P.M.
Present: Cassellius, Giese, Knutson, McLaughlin, Plourde, and Woll
Others: Maureen Farrell, Len Nyland, and Sandy Venhor
Two students from Hudson High School (to observe)
The meeting was called to order by Vice President Giese. Motion by
McLaughlin, seconded by Cassellius to approve the agenda. Motion
carried. Next scheduled meeting will be June 6, 1996 at the County
Library in Hammond. Motion by Woll, seconded by Cassellius to
approve the April 4, 1996 minutes as published. Motion carried.
Giese welcomed the students and explained the mission of the St.
Croix County Library.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Farrell updated the Board on the progress of the Library Automation
Cost Study Committee and reviewed several documents prepared at the
Committee's request, including a survey of computer hardware in
public libraries. The boards of all ten public libraries have
expressed support for a county -wide library automation project.
NEW BUSINESS:
Director's Report: Farrell announced that Dana Bjerke has accepted
the Assistant Librarian for Community Services position. She is
finishing a Masters Degree at UW-Madison and will start in late May
or early June.
Financial Activity Report: Motion by Woll, seconded by Plourde to
approved the April 1996 Financial Activity Report. Motion carried.
May Vouchers: Motion by Plourde, seconded by McLaughlin to approve
the May 1996 vouchers. Motion carried.
Other: Giese thanked Nyland for attending the meeting and for his
leadership as Board President. Giese reminded the Board that
officers will be elected at the next meeting.
Motion by McLaughlin, seconded by Woll to adjourn. Motion carried.
Meeting adjourned. 1:15 P.M.
