Wentz summarized the request to the Committee. Briggs presented information regarding the grant
which is for $52,000, with a program objective to keep kids from going into the juvenile justice system.
The County would fund hiring of the position to work with the School Districts and educate the students
on alcohol and drug abuse. The program focuses on early intervention and the person hired will meet
with the department of justice regarding requirements. Wentz explained that the AODA committee is
working with Timmerman regarding the grant agreement. Standafer questioned when the County would
be reimbursed by the State, how the administrative work will be completed, and by whom. Briggs said
that turn around for reimbursement is customarily 15 days. St. Croix County will issue the check and all
administration work will be completed by Health & Human Services staff including required quarterly
reporting. The grant is for one year and is renewable. Pietrick stated that since this has some Federal
funding requirements it will require a special audit which will cost the County additional money. Mahck
made a motion to approve the request, 2' by Wentz, motion carried unanimously.
