CROIX COUNTY FINANCE COMMITTEE December 16, 2008 Official Meeting called to order by Chair Standafer at 8:30 AM MEMBERS PRESENT: Daryl Standafer, Esther Wentz, Clarence Malick, Dave Peterson & Sharon Norton - Bauman. MEMBERS ABSENT: None OTHERS PRESENT: Administrative Coordinator Chuck Whiting, Finance Director Michelle Pietrick, Doug Briggs Somerset Police Department, Recording Secretary Amy Sabelko ADOPTION OF AGENDA: No action taken DATE OF NEXT MEETING: January 8, 2009 APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING: None OLD and NEW BUSINESS: 1. Consideration of AODA Initiative Grant Agreement and Funding Wentz summarized the request to the Committee. Briggs presented information regarding the grant which is for $52,000, with a program objective to keep kids from going into the juvenile justice system. The County would fund hiring of the position to work with the School Districts and educate the students on alcohol and drug abuse. The program focuses on early intervention and the person hired will meet with the department of justice regarding requirements. Wentz explained that the AODA committee is working with Timmerman regarding the grant agreement. Standafer questioned when the County would be reimbursed by the State, how the administrative work will be completed, and by whom. Briggs said that turn around for reimbursement is customarily 15 days. St. Croix County will issue the check and all administration work will be completed by Health & Human Services staff including required quarterly reporting. The grant is for one year and is renewable. Pietrick stated that since this has some Federal funding requirements it will require a special audit which will cost the County additional money.
