Section 33, T31N-R17W, Town of Stanton, St. Croix
County, Wisconsin.

MINUTES
ST. CROIX COUNTY PLANNING, ZONING AND PARKS COMMITTEE
August 20, 1997
Stanton Town Hall
Committee present: Tom Dorsey, George Menter, Ron Raymond, Linda Luckey, Dave
Hense.
Staff Present: David Dacquisto
Chairman Dorsey called the hearing to order at 8:09P.M. The agenda was read into the
record.
Zoning Business:
Steve Halleen to rezone 9.5 acres of land from Agriculture to Conservancy. Location:
Part of the SE '/ of the SW '/4 of Section 33, T31 N-RI7W, Town of Stanton.
Richard Powers 1660 County Rd. K stated he wants to keep people from building in the woods
and using it for housing.
The Committee asked Mr. Powers if this property was next to his.
Mr. Powers stated that it is right behind his property.
The Committee asked if Mr. Powers was purchasing the property.
The Committee asked what the property was like.
Mr. Powers stated it is woods.
Richard Hesselink of the Stanton Town Board stated the Town Board was in support of the
request to rezone to Conservancy.
Staff reported that the soils were not suited to farming.
The Committee asked staff if Conservancy was a good use of the land.
Staff replied that Conservancy would be a good use of the land. It would protect it from
development, keeping it in trees, and would not take crop land out of production.
A motion was made by Hense, seconded by Raymond, to close the hearing to the public.
Committee read the findings from State Statute 91.77 that must be made in order to rezone
Agricultural land and asked the Town Board if they could make these findings that the
development would not create an undue burden on the Town.
Richard Hesselink of the Stanton Town Board stated the Town Board did not believe that the
rezoning would create an excessive burden on the Town.
A motion was made by Raymond to recommend approval of the rezoning request with the
Committee finding that the requirements of State Statute 91.77 have been met, seconded by
Hense. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Raymond, seconded by Hense to adjourn. Motion carried. Hearing
adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
