Present were: Max Ihrke, Roland Thompson, Charles Grant, Daniel Fedderly, Mary Norton, Greg Helgeson, Miles Wittig, Art Jensen, Chuck Mehls, Brent Pickard, Heidi Habel, Brian Erickson and Dolores Ford. Meeting called to order by Chairman R. Thompson. Next: meeting date was set for April 9, 1997. Motiunto adopt agenda approved. Motion to approve minutes of the last meeting, seconded and carried. Old: CTH C north of STH 64.... The State had checked into this and sent a letter -:-.indicating that the present speeds were not being obeyed. If no compliance now, reducing the limits would have no effect. Recommended leaving the signing as it now is. Roland will release news items to let the public know of extra enforcement in the future. Discussion. On USH 63 south of Baldwin Mr. Helgeson says the State feels the limits as now posted are sufficient but will continue to monitor this area because of the increased development south of Baldwin. The Badlands Road signing was also discussed. Fedderly had checked and the signs are adequate. This is a township road theithe township would have to request any changes. New: Complaints of speed and improper passing of buses along STH 35 between Hudson and River Falls. Sheriff Department will be working the Speed Wave in this area. Thompson has talked with bus drivers about the proper procedure in stopping to pick up kids. This road will probably be re- constructed in 1999. STH 35/64 west of Somerset. Complaint of lighting in the parking lot of a used car dealer. Interferes with drivers vision as they are too bright. TranspofVtion Committee has mailed a letter letting the dealer know of the problem and expect compliance of one of the alternatives. Mehls mentioned a problem with site distance at an uncontrolled intersection of a town road with the railroad crossing east of New Richmond. If possible, perhaps the township could trim the trees and brush -.before spring. Pete will contact the township. It was suggested that perhaps a stop sign at this location would also help. Mr. Pickard distributed literature and gave us information on the current problem with air bags injuring children. Mr. Wittig asked for discussion on the Stillwater Bridge problem. Dan Fedderly had sent a letter to DOT,and-a resolution to the County Board. Mr. Wittig made a motion that this Commission also write a letter. Mr. Jensen seconded and motion carried. Mary mentioned that she needed some literature/suggestions for a display at a seminar. Mention was made of a complaint of the site distance on CTH T near the Red Rooster - people having a problem seeing a school bus stopping. Pete will check into this. Submitted by Dolores Ford.
