STAFF PRESENT: Sheriff Paul Burch, Chief Deputy Max Ihrke, Jail Captain Karen Humphrey, District Attorney Eric, Johnson, Medical Examiner Marty Shanklin, Communications Director Bruce Brantner, Emergency Government Director Jack Colvard and Renee Carufel. Motion to approve.the agenda by Giese/Dowd. Carried. Motion to approve the Jan. 9th minutes by Dowd/Gunderson. Carried. Date of next meeting March 6, 9:00 a.m. CIGARETTE ORDINANCE: Giese reported that the Sheriff and DA are in support of this ordinance. This would be another tool in providing safety in the County. It would be illegal to use tobacco under the age of 18. Gunderson moved to approve the adoption of the cigarette ordinance and take to County Board. Second by Giese. Carried. MEDICAL EXAMINER'S REPORT: Shanklin explained why the County gets revenue from cremations. A charge is made for investigating the death. Motion to approve the bills of $1740.94 by Mehls/Gunderson. Carried. JAIL MAINTENANCE: Captain Humphrey requested the following repairs be made with the money coming from the Jail assessment fund of up to $5500. Hot water improvement-$600, kitchen faucet-$145, soap dispensers-$175, cable for terminal/huber officer-$400, carpet in multi -purpose room-$3500, repairing outdoor cameras-$620. Motion by Giese to approve these expenditures, second by Mehls. Carried. DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S REPORT: Motion by Giese/Gunderson to approve the bills of $2865.58. Carried. BILLS AND VOUCHERS: Motion by Giese/Mehls to approve the vouchers of $32,467.70 for the Jail and $15,727.78 for the Sheriff's department. The revenues for the month of January were $112,912.48. Carried. SHERIFF'S REPORT: Sheriff Burch explained the Grant application for computer equipment. The County should be prepared to submit this to the State by November to receive the funds by the following February. He wants something from the committee in June or July on our concept of planning for this. Discussion of why New Richmond cannot come in under the Clues system at this time which is mainly due to lack of hardware capabilities and technical support personnel. Burch also reported that we did get the grant for the speed board. JAIL REPORT: Captain Humphrey reported that the medical co -pay program is up and running. The inmates will have to pay for their own medical visits. The Jail nurse was very pleased to have only 8 inmates to see rather than the usual 20 this past week. Humphrey also reported that a new camera is being installed in the entrance and will be working by the end of next week. The Computer imagery system should be working by Feb. 25 & 26. The Voice Computers are being used but it is a very slow process getting them operational. The Large Assembly Ordinance is on hold at this time. CHILD SUPPORT: Giese reported that the Finance committee approved the special projects computer operator for Child Support. Discussion was held on the distribution of tow calls to different towing companies. No action was taken at this time. Motion by Giese/Dowd to adjourn at 10:40 a.m. Carried.
