I� PUBLIC PROTECTION COMMITTEE MEETING October 15, 1997 SPECIAL MEETING MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Bill Krueger, Herb Giese, Jack Dowd, Bob Gunderson and Chuck Mehls. County Board Chairman Bob Boche was also present. STAFF PRESENT: Sheriff Paul Burch, Jail Captain Karen Humphrey, Corporation Counsel Greg Timmerman and Renee Carufel. Meeting called to order at 9:05 a.m. by Chairman Krueger. Motion to approve the agenda as published by Dowd/Gunderson. Carried. Date of next meeting Nov. 7th, 9:00 a.m. JAIL PANEL UPGRADE CONTRACT: Discussion was held on who is responsible to negotiate this contract. On the advice of Corporation Counsel Greg Timmerman, Mehls made the motion to drop section 2.2.2 on page 4 of the contract which referred to: if additional information is needed, who will pay for it; Sheriff's Department to make contact with the references furnished by Lang & Associates and Timmerman to write a letter explaining our actions. Also advise them that we expect full engineering and construction administration services. Second by Gunderson. Carried. MONTHLY PANEL PAYMENTS: Krueger informed the committee that we will pay for the Jail panels with three years of payments. We will pay one/twelveth each month of the amount that is due from the Jail Assessment Fund. Motion by Dowd/Gunderson to go into closed session per WI STATUTES 19.85 (1) (f) for preliminary consideration of specific personnel problems at 10:00 a.m. Roll call vote, all yes. Carried. Motion by Mehls/Gunderson to come out of closed session at 11:11 a.m. Carried. Motion to adjourn by Giese/Dowd at 11:25 a.m. Carried. Chuck Mehls, Secretary Renee Carufel, Recording Secretary
