Administrative
- Personnel:
Sprain reported there will be an intern from UW -River Falls working with us this semester to
help us reach our civil rights outreach goals with Latino/Hispanic audiences.
4 -H Youth Development Report
Witzel shared this month she co- taught the Real Colors personality assessment at UW -River
Falls. This workshop was taught to a class for Tim Buttles who is a 4 -H volunteer and had
students teach club officer training for St. Croix County. This is a new partnership of teaching
that works well for both staff members. The class was very receptive to the training with
positive evaluations. This personality assessment was the same one done for the Ag Services
building in the spring as part of an office teambuilding program.
It is also a time of preparation in some of the animal projects. December was beef weigh in for
members planning to show market steers at the county fair. Weigh ins for the other livestock
projects will be in April. The remainder of the month was spent looking at charter documents,
reviewing club program plans, financial records, and handbooks. The charter is an annual
document that needs to be completed for 4 -H clubs to be recognized as a part of the national 4 -H
organization.
Family Living Agent Report
Sprain reported about the Natural Step study circle. Kling and Sprain participated along with
other staff from throughout the state looking at ways to incorporate sustainable living into
existing programs.
Resource Agent Report
Kling updated the committee about recent activity in the Working Lands Initiative. He is
working with producers in the Towns of Pleasant Valley, Rush River, and Star Prairie to
investigate the possibility of establishing two pilot Agricultural Enterprise Areas.
Meeting adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Richard Marzolf
