EOC ACTIVATION FOR NRC
C. Nelson, RTAC Chairman, and R. Haider, Westfields Hospital Emergency Preparedness
Coordinator, explained that a grant application was submitted to the State to open an EOC during the
National Republican Convention and monitor communications between the Twin City's hospitals and
St. Croix County's hospitals in the event that an incident should occur causing an overload at the Twin
City's hospitals and the need for transporting of patients to or from the Twin City's. This grant would
provide state funds to cover communications /monitoring between the hospitals in the Wisconsin
Consortium, staffing of the EOC, and purchase or replacement of equipment needed in the EOC. Mr.
Tomcyzk supports the activation and funding of an EOC and would also like to see two drill scenarios
carried out during this activation. R. Huston explained that the Secret Service is in charge of this event
and business will be as usual, however, there will be an increase in staff at the hospitals. MN Trac and
WI Trac will be the computer systems that will be used as the communications /monitoring tools. A
Nelson/Ostness MOTION was made to support the establishment of a Hudson EOC with funding from
the state, for its activation.
