EOC Activation for National Republican Convention ADJOURN (Items may be taken in different order) ** Additions /Changes /Corrections Items for County Board approval must be submitted to the County Clerk's office by Wednesday morning preceding a County Board meeting. 6/2/2008 8:55 AM OFFICIAL LOCAL EMERGENCY PLANNING COMMITTEE MINUTES SPECIAL MEETING 6 -9 -2008 The St. Croix County LEPC meeting was held at the Coachman Restaurant, Baldwin, WI. Vice Chair, Speer called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. Present: D. Ostness, J. Speer, J. Mortensen — County Board; C. Swetlik - Emergency Communications; J. Klatt — Sheriff's Dept.; C. Nelson, B. Wittmer - Baldwin EMS; J. Jensen - Regions Hospital; J. Colvard - Emergency Management; R. Haider — Westfields Hospital; C. Olson — River Falls; C. Mehls — New Richmond; C. Whiting — County Administrative Coordinator; R. Huston — Regions Hospital Safety Coordinator; G. Arnevik — Phillips Plastics; Dennis Tomcyzk — Director, Hospital Bioterrorism Preparedness Division of Public Health; Paul Wittkamp — WI Radio and Communications Coordinator. J. Borup, C. Sortedahl, J. Aubart — Excused. NEXT MEETING — REGULAR MEETING — 8 -13 -2008 at Government Center, Community Rm. at 1:00 p.m. EOC ACTIVATION FOR NRC C. Nelson, RTAC Chairman, and R. Haider, Westfields Hospital Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, explained that a grant application was submitted to the State to open an EOC during the National Republican Convention and monitor communications between the Twin City's hospitals and St. Croix County's hospitals in the event that an incident should occur causing an overload at the Twin City's hospitals and the need for transporting of patients to or from the Twin City's. This grant would provide state funds to cover communications /monitoring between the hospitals in the Wisconsin Consortium, staffing of the EOC, and purchase or replacement of equipment needed in the EOC. Mr. Tomcyzk supports the activation and funding of an EOC and would also like to see two drill scenarios carried out during this activation. R. Huston explained that the Secret Service is in charge of this event and business will be as usual, however, there will be an increase in staff at the hospitals. MN Trac and WI Trac will be the computer systems that will be used as the communications /monitoring tools. A Nelson/Ostness MOTION was made to support the establishment of a Hudson EOC with funding from the state, for its activation.
