CROIX COUNTY — THE BUILDING FACILITIES LONG -TERM PLANNING AD HOC COMMITTEE May 5, 2010 9:00 a.m. Room 1281, Government Center Hudson, WI CALL TO ORDER - The meeting was convened by Roger Rebholz. ROLL CALL — Members Present: Daryl Standafer, Esther Wentz, Roger Rebholz, Fred Horne, and Gene Ruetz. Others Present: Administrative Coordinator Chuck Whiting, Director of Building Services Art Tobin, and Dave Simons and Chad Cramer from SEH, Bob Barbien from the City of New Richmond. APPROVAL OF AGENDA — Motion by Ruetz, 2 nd by Wentz to approve the agenda. Carried unanimously. ACTION ON PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES: April 7, 2010 — Motion by Standafer, 2 nd by Ruetz to approve the minutes of April 7, 2010. Carried unanimously. DATE OF NEXT MEETING — Discussion. Consensus to have the next meeting June 2, 2010. OLD AND NEW BUSINESS 1. Status of Phase II of Planning Study — The Committee had a brief discussion of the status of their work. Simons presented a progress update to the Committee. He reviewed options for space utilization at the three County campuses included in the study. He emphasized considering under - utilized space for better use in helping to determine the necessary work space needed for the County's workforce. He reviewed space utilization options in the Government Center and Ag Center buildings. He noted additional data collection would be needed including surveying County departments on their needs and projections for future work needs. He briefly reviewed lease versus building options and issues with relocating staff while maintaining workflow. The Committee discussed water system issues facing the County's New Richmond campus and the City of New Richmond's needs. Discussion included consideration of a looped water main for the County site to improve water flow. Simons reviewed the County's Vierbicher study from 2003 as an example of land use planning that may be needed for considering options for both water mains and a city water tower. The Highway 64 alignment and the City's transportation plans were also reviewed and discussed, and a meeting with the City for May 6 on this subject was noted. 2. Status of Ongoing Building Projects — Tobin gave a brief summary of building related projects taking place, including the reroofing of the Ag Center in Baldwin. 3.
