Pledge of Allegiance was said. ROLL CALL: Supervisors: Al Schrank, Esther Wentz, Richard `Buzz' Marzolf, and Sharon Norton - Bauman; Council members: Sue Nelson, Ramsey Lee, Kristen Johnson, Vera Grant, Michelle Chevalier and Lois Burn. Also present Administrative Assistant Renea Aeschliman; Caregiver Support Coordinator Nancy Abrahamson; Information & Assistance Specialist Kelly Weber; Health and Human Services Director Fred Johnson; ADRC Manager Brad Beckman; Economic Support Supervisor Ronda Brown Anderson. Excused was Council member Judy Harrison- Belisle. ACTION OF PREVIOUS MINUTES: A motion to approve the minutes was made by Council member Lee and seconded by Supervisor Norton - Bauman; motion carried. DATE OF NEXT MEETING: Thursday, July 15 in the County Board Room of the St. Croix County Government Center in Hudson. 1. Monthly Financial Report: Beckman distributed financial information for the ADRC and the Aging programs through May 31, 2010. 2. Consideration of Claims & Vouchers: Supervisor Schrank reviewed the vouchers. A motion to accept the vouchers as presented was made by Supervisor Schrank and seconded by Supervisor Wentz•, motion carried. Please see page 4 for a list of vouchers reviewed by Schrank. Council member Lee will review next month's vouchers. 3. Election of Officers for 2010 -2011: Chairperson Nelson stated the election of officers will be held during the August Council meeting. 4. Presentation — Economic Support Supervisor Ronda Brown Anderson: Brown Anderson introduced herself to the Council and explained how the Economic Support Unit works with the ADRC. She informed the Council that she and Brad are currently working on a Memorandum of Understanding between the ADRC and Economic Support. She explained the ES Unit has over 9000 participants in BadgerCare + and MA. Also, from January to April, over 5000 individuals are Food Share participants with some overlap in services. 5. ADRC State Agency Pilot Survey: Manager Beckman reminded the Council to return their completed surveys today. Once all the surveys are collected, the student intern will compile the information and send in one survey to the state. Council on Aging Page 1 10/21/10 6. HHS Open Meeting wrap -up: Manager Beckman informed the Council that the attendance at the Annual HHS Open Meeting was not very high. Letters from consumers /clients were read regarding the possibility of services being cut. 7. Closed session per Wisconsin Statues 19.85(1)(c) for Aging and Disability Resource Manager evaluation: A motion to go into closed session for Manager Beckman's annual review was introduced by Supervisor Wentz and seconded by Council member Grant; motion carried. The Council on Aging and Disabilities went into closed session at 10:47 a.m. Reconvene to open session: A motion to reconvene was introduced by Council member Burri and seconded by Council member Grant; motion carried. The Council on Aging and Disabilities reconvened at 11:16 a.m. after reviewing Beckman's job evaluation performed by Health and Human Services Director Johnson. 8. Aging Updates: • Caregiver Prog am • Interfaith Volunteer Needs Handout Council members received the most recent volunteer needs. • DUAwgy Adult Respite Program Update Caregiver Coordinator Abrahamson informed the Council there have been new referrals to the Hudson location. A volunteer has been found to assist with the New Richmond location. • Caregiver Conference: Abrahamson informed the Council that preparation for the Annual Caregiver Conference is underway. Brochures will hopefully be printed June /July and mailed out shortly thereafter. The Conference will be on October 15 th . • Stepping On: Abrahamson handed out brochures to the Council members regarding the Stepping On classes. The ADRC is teaming up with River Falls Hospital. The class will be held on Wednesdays from August 25 through October 6. Pre - registration is required and the fee is $10.00. • Living Well with Chronic Conditions: The Council received informational brochures on the Living Well with Chronic Conditions class. Abrahamson informed the Council she will be facilitating a class in Hudson on Wednesdays for six weeks starting July 25 Individuals need to pre- register and pay a fee of $10.00 to attend the class. • Transportation Program ■ No requests for this month. • Senior Center/Nutrition Prog_am • Annual County Wide Card Tournament: Beckman informed the Council that the Card Tournament for 2010 has ended and the traveling trophy was presented to the Glenwood City team at the Annual Countywide Senior Picnic in Roberts. The tournament was really close this year with Glenwood City only beating Deer Park by one point. • Annual County Wide Senior Picnic — wrap u . Beckman informed the Council that the Council on Aging Page 2 10/21/10 picnic was held on Friday, June 11' The event was well attended with approximately 200 individuals. Council member Nelson and Supervisors Marzolf and Schrank attended the event as well. They stated that the food was good and it was good to meet people from the other nutrition sites and parts of St. Croix County. They also complimented the staff and volunteers who made the day a success. All the food was donated along with the preparation of the hot dogs and burgers. The free will donation from the day of $528.00 will go toward the Senior Center Board Coalition. • County Fair — Outstanding Older Adult Award Beckman informed the Council that the 2010 Outstanding Older Adult Award will be presented on Friday, July 23 at Croix Court of the St. Croix County Fair in Glenwood City. The ADRC will also have silent auction items, popcorn, juice, and handcrafted items in the Senior Citizens Building. • Teeing It Up for The Seniors Golf Tournament: Beckman informed the Council that Preventative/Nutrition Program Coordinator Hanson has collected numerous items for the golf scramble that will be used for silent auction or raffle. The hole sponsorships continue to come in, as do the golf teams. Bidding on the silent auction items will start at the Government Center on Wednesday, June 23 and continue at the Hammond Golf Course. Raffle items will only be available at the Hammond Golf Course on Friday. The Scramble is planned on Friday, June 25`" with proceeds to benefit the 10 Senior Nutrition Sites throughout the County. 8. ADRC updates: • Information & Assistance Specialist — Update Information & Assistance Specialist Kelly Weber reported that since August 2008, excluding former waiver clients, 13 individuals have chosen Community Health Partnership — Partnership Plan (not including former Long Term Support Waiver clients), 94 have chosen Community Health Partnership — Family Care Plan (not including former Long Term Support Waiver clients), 126 clients have been referred to IRIS. One hundred sixty -seven individuals have come off of the waiting list with one hundred fifty -seven individuals on the current waiting list. Weber mentioned it is no longer taking six to twelve months to come off of the waiting list, but instead approximately three months. Pre - Admission Consultations are received daily. • Website Update: Beckman informed the Council that the website is moving along. Now that the layout for the County home page has been determined, basic information for the ADRC home page is being entered. The live date for the County site is set for September 7 The ADRC program/services information will be entered by ADRC staff and the ADRC will work with an agency called ACCESS offered through the state to enter the Information and Referral database portion of the website. The Information and Referral database will be available for individuals to search information on housing, nursing homes, home health and other services available to St. Croix County residents.
