ROM�'w '° �..1NTY RESOLUTION RETAINING OWNERSHIP OF APPLE RIVER PROPERTY ON CTH H, PARCEL 038-1051-60-000 1 WHEREAS, the St. Croix County obtained an In Rem judgment on parcel 038-1051-60- 2 000 November 20, 2019 for back property taxes and costs of$11,872.42; and 3 4 WHEREAS, the structure on the property sustained fire damage on January 14, 2020 5 that resulted in an insurance claim settlement of$33,100; and 6 7 WHEREAS, the County incurred an additional $15,700 in clean-up costs for the fire 8 damaged structure; and 9 10 WHEREAS, the property is largely unsuited for development but for a grand-fathered 11 footprint from the prior house, which limits future development potential; and 12 13 WHEREAS, the Community Development Committee on August 20, 2020 requested 14 that the tax deeded property not be sold, but retained for future public access; and 15 16 WHEREAS, the Administration Committee on September 15, 2020 concurred and 17 recommends the County retain the tax deeded property for future public access. 18 19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the St. Croix County Board of 20 Supervisors does hereby declare its intent not to sell tax deeded parcel 038-1051-60-000 and 21 turns control of the 3.53 acre property over to the St. Croix County Community Development 22 Department for development as a public access site to the Apple River. Legal-Fiscal-Administrative Approvals: Legal Note: Fiscal Impact: Retaining the property instead of selling the property will result in lost revenue opportunity. With development challenges,the parcel could be expected to sell in tens of thousands of dollars range.
