Present:
Committee: Chair Gene Ruetz, Supervisors Peter Post, Sharon Norton- Bauman, Lorin Sather,
Steve Hermsen
Staff. Dave Fodroczi, Kevin Grabau, Ellen Denzer, Brett Budrow, Jennifer Havens, Judy Olson
Call to Order: Chair Ruetz called the meeting to order at 1:04 p.m.
Adoption of Agenda: Motion by Norton - Bauman, 2nd by Post to adopt the agenda. Motion
carried.
Date of Next Meeting: May 28, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.
Old and new Business
Committee Orientation — Department Responsibilities -
Fodroczi explained that the staff will give the department annual report that will be presented to
the County Board in June.
Denzer gave an overview of the Planning program areas and provided a Plan Commission
handbook to each Committee member. She provided copies of the Rural Living Guide
emphasizing how well this document has been received by citizens and towns.
Jennifer Havens reviewed the County Recycling Program.
Kevin Grabau reviewed and explained the Code Administration program areas including
ordinance review, POWTS, land division, zoning and code enforcement. He showed the trends
from 1995 — 2007 in numbers of permits issued in each of the program areas.
Peter Post left the meeting at 3:00 p.m.
Grabau then provided copies of the Code of Ordinances for Land Use and Development to each
new Committee member and reviewed those ordinances.
The Committee recessed at 3:15 p.m. and reconvened at 3:25 p.m.
Grabau outlined the rezoning process of reviewing and approving rezoning applications, a three -
month process. He explained the steps required of the applicant, the staff and the Committee
from the application submittal through approval by County Board.
Chair Ruetz adjourned the meeting at 4:30 p.m.
