BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The work product from our Broadband Connectors Pilot Program is the Broadband
Assessment RFP. The Broadband Assessment will give us detailed options for expanding
broadband within the County. While it is a lengthy process, there is an abundant amount of
information requested and will take time to develop.
I am requesting a resolution authorizing the release of the Broadband Assessment RFP.
Normally I would not need a resolution, but since it was unbudgeted and will require use of
contingency fund dollars I thought this to be a more transparent process.

1 WHEREAS, St. Croix County was part of the WEDC Broadband Connectors Pilot
2 program; and

4 WHEREAS, a Broadband Assessment of the County was a logical next step for St. Croix
5 County to take based on the results of the Broadband Connectors Pilot program; and

7 WHEREAS, a Broadband Assessment was not contemplated or budgeted for in 2021;
8 and
9
10 WHEREAS, St. Croix County Board of Supervisor does budget for contingency projects
11 that come up unexpectedly each year.

13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the St. Croix County Board of
14 Supervisors authorizes the release of a Broadband Assessment RFP and for the Administration
15 Committee to determine if the project bids fall within contingency funding parameters.

Fiscal Impact: The Broadband Assessment is unbudgeted. It is expected that contingency funds
can be used to cover the project.
