PRESENT: Roger Rebholz, John Borup, Julie Speer, David Ostness, John Mortensen, Ken Kolbe - County
Board; Casey Swetlik - Emergency Communications; Dennis Hillstead, J. Shilts, J. Klatt — Sheriff's Dept.;
C. Whiting — Administrative Coordinator; C. Jensen — Salvation Army; T. Funk — Human Resources; J.
Ericson — New Richmond CERT; J. VanderWyst — Fire Representative;
Excused: C. Nelson, EMS Representative
The Emergency Management /Communications Committee meeting was called to order at 8:15 a.m. by J.
Borup.
DATE OF NEXT MEETING: MARCH 9, 2010 AT 9:00 a.m.
LOCATION: ST. CROIX COUNTY GOVERNMENT CENTER, ROOM #1216 (Conference Rm.
next to Planning & Zoning)
ACTION TO FILL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DIRECTOR POSITION
Borup informed that J. Colvard has given his Resignation Letter; his last working day will be 3/4/2010.
Borup asked the Committee how the Emergency Management Director's position should be staffed after
this date. A Rebholz /Speer MOTION was made to have C. Swetlik be the Interim Emergency Management
Director and J. Klatt as the Deputy Emergency Management Director. Sheriff Hillstead voiced his concern
that responders and citizens are getting the impression that no one knows what their doing. Sheriff
Hillstead made clear that LE, Fire, or EMS Responders are knowledgeable and can respond in an incident
and can act in J. Colvard's absence.
