R�.J►9, �'w '° �..1NTY RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CONTINUATION OF SELF INSURED WORKERS COMPENSATION PROGRAM COVER MEMO TO: County Board of Supervisors FROM: Ken Witt, Interim County Administrator DATE: February 2, 2021 AGENDA ITEM: Resolution Authorizing Continuation of Self Insured Workers Compensation Program BACKGROUND INFORMATION St. Croix County maintains a self insured workers compensation program. Every three years we must re-certify our intention to maintain a self insured workers compensation program with the State of Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. There are no changes to the program. Resolution No. 8 (2021) ST. R�.J►9, �'w '° �..1NTY RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CONTINUATION OF SELF INSURED I'SOYI`'V? WORKERS COMPENSATION PROGRAM 1 WHEREAS, St. Croix County is a qualified political subdivision of the State of 2 Wisconsin; and 3 4 WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Workers Compensation Act(Act)provides that employers 5 covered by the Act either insure their liability with worker's compensation insurance carrier 6 authorized to do business in Wisconsin, or be exempted (self-insured)from insuring liabilities 7 with a carrier and assume the responsibility for its own worker's compensation risks and 8 payments; and 9 10 WHEREAS, the State and any of its political subdivisions may self-insure for worker's 11 compensation without a special order from the Department of Workforce Development 12 (Department)if they agree to report faithfully all compensable injuries and agrees to comply 13 with the Act and rules of the Department; and 14 15 WHEREAS, the Administration Committee at its January 19, 2021 meeting approved 16 the continuation of the self-insured worker's compensation program, in compliance with 17 Wisconsin Administrative Code DWD 80.60(3). 18 19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the St. Croix County Board of 20 Supervisors of St. Croix County does ordain as follows: 21 22 (1) Provide for the continuation of a self-insured worker's compensation program that is 23 currently in effect. 24 25 (2) Authorize the County Clerk to forward a certified copy of this resolution to the 26 Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, Worker's Compensation 27 Division.
