RESOLUTION# '-1 1 (2004)
ST. CROIX COUNTY, WISCONSIN
WHEREAS, Wisconsin Statutes sec. 765.15 provides that the base fee for a marriage
license is $49.50 plus a$.50 notary fee, plus such additional amount as each county board deems
is appropriate, and
WHEREAS, $25 from every fee goes to the State of Wisconsin, and the balance of the
fee goes to the county, $20 of which is mandated to be used for county family court counseling
services; and
WHEREAS, the fee for a marriage license in St. Croix County has been $55 for over ten
years; and
WHEREAS, the St. Croix County fee is low in comparison to the fee charged in other
Wisconsin counties, and
WHEREAS, increasing the fee to $100.00 would bring St. Croix County's fee in line
with other counties and contribute more to the cost of County operations; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors that
the fee for a marriage license in St. Croix County shall be increased to $100.00, effective January
1, 2005.
