ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE
January 7, 1997
Meeting called to order at 9*04 A.M. by Chairman Daryl Standafer
Members Present: Filipiak, Kellaher, O'Connell and Standafer
Luckey, excused.
Others Present. Administrative Coordinator John Krizek arrived at
9@00 A.M.
Adoption of Agenda: Motion by piak, 2nd by O'Connell to adopt
the agenda. Carried.
Next Meeting Date: Tentatively set for February 11, 1997.
Adoption of Minutes: Correction to December 3, 1996 minutes:
delete "and security" under Emergency Government Safety Training.
Motion to adopt minutes as corrected by O'Connell, 2nd by Filipiak.
Carried.
Rules and By -Laws: The Emergency Government issue was resolved
I
nternally.
Statewide Legislative Issues: A Resolution from Wisconsin Counties
Association regulating mining activity was brought to the Committee
for discussion. Committee members felt that it was an issue that
does not impact St. Croix County. No action taken at this time.
Dunker Landfill Cleanup issue is back at the .State level for
further negotiation.
Resolution Supportincr Construction of Stillwater Bridcte: Krizek
would like to see the County going on record as wanting and needing
a new bridge at Stillwater. Negotiate not litigate the issue.
Litigation would tie everything up indefinitely. Members feel we
need both Governor Thompson and Carlson supporting us mentioned in
the Resolution. Highway 35/64 construction has been approved and
construction needs to get started before the monies are used
somewhere else. St. Croix County needs to appeal to Governor
Thompson for his support and in turn extend an invitation to
Governor Carlson to sit down and negotiate the current structure of
the bridge issue.
Chairs of the Administration and Transportation Committees will
meet and discuss different points that can be combined into one
joint resolution and present it to the January 21, 1997 County
Board.
Motion to adjourn at 9:55 A.M. by O'Connell, 2nd by Kellaher.
Carried.
Respectfully
Lee Kellaher,
LK:ma
submitted,
Secretary
