Thompson DATE: February 13, 1996 COPIES TO: County Clerk News Media/Notice Board Committee Members V Traffic Safety Commission of St. Croix: County met March 5th, 1996 at 1:30 p.m. in the Sheriff Department. Meeting was called to order by Chairman R. Thompson. Motion made: and carried to adopt the agenda. Next meeting is set for June 11th, 1996 at':1:30 p.m. Motion to approve minutes of the last meeting were approved as written. Old business: USH 12 and STH 128 Junction. Jake Jochimsen explained that because of some complaints and other comments the proposed design change is now on hold. Lengthy discussion. A letter is to be written to D.O.T. stating that this commission favors the proposed re -alignment. ' The speed zone signs on STH 35 north of North Hudson had been moved sometime last fall. On Cty F south of CTH MM, the complaint was that the passing zone was too short. Dan Fedderly will look at the area. It was spotted according to engineering criteria. Thompson had already looked at it and felt it was ad.,*Ate.should be. On CTH JJ at the junction with CTH M the view when looking west is somewhat obstructed by trees, signs, etc. It was suggested that.perhaps the stop line could be moved. On Grandview approaching CTH UU there is also a.problem with site distance. As this is in the City of Hudson limits we will advise them. Traffic on CTH UU has really increased.and felt this needs to be looked at. Discussion on highway projects and the lack of monies to complete'.them. USH 12 from Hudson to Baldwin.is still scheduled for 1997 work. The Corridor Safety and Speed Wave programs were offered to the County. and the Sheriff Department.will be participating again. In viewing the spot map it was noted that our fatalities are down; however, state wide there has been an increase in the number killed. Meeting adjourned.
