Old business: The Speed zone on STH 46 in Village of Deer Park has not been changed by the State as of this date. New business: Lengthy discussion on the problem at CTH I and 170th Av. which was the scene of our most recent fatality. Improvements had been made by the township following our recommendation in October 1993. Stop sign was in place, etc. Unknown as this time whether alcohol was a factor. CTH C north of STH 64. Dan has had several letters from citizens in this area that would like a 35 mph zone there and stating that there is Little enforcement seen by them. The Sheriff Department has been participating in the Speed Wave Program in the area. Capt. Thompson will use the speed board and will try to put more squads around when ever possible. Discussion on a press release which will indicate that we are concerned and that we are doing as much as possible with the personnel we have. Believe the highway is "OK" and is signed as it should be. The No Parking signs along USH 12 east of the STH 65 junction are in poor condition. The State will be replaclag these signs as soon as possible. Speed Wave, Corridor Safety, and Safe & Sober programs will soon be over for this year. Speed Wave will be available starting in October for 1997. Our Department is.asking for three more patrol deputies to increase the enforcement within the county. Mention was made that car kill deer are not being picked up as soon as they should. Dan suggested that we recommend a local contract be administered -- possible the Sheriff Department -- this is all handled by the DNA at present. Discussion on the current policy on cutting the highway right-of-way. It is being done according to the DOT requirements. Joe handed out information on the fatality facts to date. Motion made and carried that meeting be adjourned. Respectfully submitted, Dolores Ford
