Committee Members
St. Croix County Traffic Safety Commission meeting held October 89 1996 at 1:30 p.m.
at the Government Center in Hudson.
Present: R. W. Thompson, Joe Gustafson, Miles Wittig, Willard Jochimsen, Doris Peterson,
Charles Grant, Donald Johnson, Art Jensen, Dan Fedderly, Dennis Erickson, Max Ihrke and
Dolores Ford.
Meeting called to order by Roland Thompson. Motion to adopt agenda made and carried.
Next meeting date set for January 8, 1997 at 1:30 p.m.
Motion made and carried to approve minutes of the August 13, 1996 meeting.
Old Business:
On CTH C north of STH 64 the Sheriff Dept. has had extra patrol shifts during the
month of September. The Speed Board was also used there. Several citations and
warnings were issued. There was response from the public,on the use of the Board.
The signing on the Badlands Road was discussed. The Speed Board had also'bee'n."
used out there in the 45 mph zone. Mr. Fedderly will check into the signing to
see if it is as it should be.
Mr. Fedderly is still receiving letters from people about CTH C. The Transportation
Committee recommended referring this problem to the Traffic Safety Commission.
Department of Transportation will do a speed study and make a recommendation to this
Commission regarding extending the 45 zone from STH 64 north. Discussion .
Distance is a factor in reducing limits. Motion was made to refer this to the
DOT for a decision and then advise use
The Town Board of Somerset had voted to have the County cut the hill and improve
the sight distance on 170th at CTH I. No work scheduled for CTH I itself. WOrk
will be started this fall if weather permits. Mr. Wittig advised that flashing
red lights will also be installed.
New BUsiness:
Roland had checked out the stop sign at CTH E and STH 35 and it is not believed
to be a major problem.
USH 63. The public expressing concern about the speed and want the zone extended.
Lengthy discussion. The Commission feeling is that it is zoned the best for
regulating the traffic flow. Jake will check into the number of accidents in that
location.

Gustafson distributed the fatal statistics from the State and other pertinent
literature.so
Discussion on the proposed legislation for triple bottoms.
Motion to adjourn carried.
