Absent: Ron Raymond was excused. The meeting was called to order at 12:30 p.m. Date of next meeting was set for January 6, 1998 at 12:30 p.m. Berenschot moved that the agenda be adopted as amended. Bethke seconded the motion. Motion carried. Jensen moved chat the previous rneeturg'S min„tes be approved. Berenschot seconded the motion. Motion carried. Jensen moved that the vouchers be approved. Berenschot seconded the motion. Motion carried. Planning Department's Report Fodroczi reviewed a list of November vouchers totalling $3,834.67. Berenschot moved that the vouchers be approved as presented. Jensen seconded the motion. Motion carried. Barney gave an update on recent promotional activities. Over 150 people entered recycling pledges as part of the "America Recycles Day" events on November 14-15. Local prizes were distributed and pledges submitted for national drawings. A Christmas tree has been located in the Government Center corridor and County employees have been invited to decorate it with ornaments made from recycled materials. Barney will meet with the Fair Board and 4-H Leaders in January to discuss A ecycling at the County Fair. Hazardous Waste Collection: Dale Cardwell of the Northwest Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission gave a presentation on the commission's mobile hazardous waste collection program. He reviewed their 199E Annual Report, tentative 1998 program schedule, and draft contract for services. He expressed an interest in making their services available to St. Croix County if our schedule could fit theirs. He estimated that we could operate two days of programming for about the same cost we have spent on one day in the past. Barney and Fodroczi will work with Cardwell to develop contract terms and a schedule for the Committee's consideration. Administrative Report Universit�rogram to Purchase New Computers: Reaman circulated the Agreement between St. Croix County and the University of Wisconsin for computer purchase. The University of Wisconsin will purchase two computers. These computers will be owned by the University, however, it will be housed at the St. Croix County Extension Office and be available for agent use from the time of delivery. St. Croix County will repay the University of Wisconsin for the computers in two equal payments on March 15, 1998 and March 15, 1999. Upon completion of the second payment, the University of Wisconsin will turn over ownership of the equipment to St. Croix County. St. Croix 11 County will be responsible only for the purchase price of the equipment and will not be required to pay interest on this amount. Berenschot moved to approve the agreement between St. Croix County and the University of Wisconsin. Seconded by Jensen. Motion passed. Agent Performance Evaluations: Reaman distributed the evaluation forms for the Agent Performance reviews on February 3. The UWEX Western District Director has confirmed his availability to attend the February Ag & Extension Education Committee meeting. Further discussion on the evaluation procedure will be discussed in January. National Leadership Seminar: Information regarding the National Leadership Seminar was distributed. All cost for the participants is covered by the University. Berenschot indicated an interest in completing the application for the Seminar. St. Croix County Budget: There are two large bills which Reaman is waiting for before an accurate end of the year budget report can be finalized. It is the salary bill from the University and a literature bill. A� Center Update: The site visit and written estimate to move the UWEX Satellite to the new building was completed by Dean Schneider of Intelicomp. The requisition and purchase order have been sent. Reaman anticipates the satellite will be relocated sometime in December. 4-H Youth Development Report 4-H Leaders' Council Retreat: The 4-H Leaders' Council will have a retreat for their December meeting. The focus will be on taking a broad look at the entire 4-H program and evaluating what works well, what needs to be improved and any additional educational efforts they would like to provide. New Literature: There are several new pieces of 4-H project and leader literature. The new material effectively demonstrates life skill development ni the project as well as the technical subject matter skills. Reaman wants to conduct leader training on the new material so that leaders are prepared to work with the material in their club project meetings. Re- enrollment: Re -enrollments were due November 15: They should be entered into the blue ribbon youth program by mid December. New. enrollments are due January I5, Berenschot moved to adjourn.
