CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at

ROLL CALL: Members present were Herb Giese, Phil
Hammer, Roberta Moe, Mary Lou Smith, John
Mortensen, Delores Loock, Lee Kell
and Andy Germain, Larry Weisenbu

ADOPTION OF AGENDA: A motion was made by
John Mortensen and seconded by Lee Kellaher to adopt
the agenda; motion carried,
DATE OF NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be
February 20, 1997 at 9 : 00 a.m.
A motion was
made by John Mortensen and seconded by Delores Loock
to accept the November 21, 1996 minutes with the change
of the word dispose to dispense in Site/Center Reports,
motion carried .
Long Term Care Redesign: Aging and Long Term
Support may be combined at the State level. If this would
happen, Donna McDowell, Director of the Bureau on
Aging, could become the Director at the State level.
Block grants, sliding fee scales, advantages, and
disadvantages were discussed.

In Action report was given by Sharon Smith. Handouts
were distributed.

There are two (2) bills in Congress regarding the
reauthorization of the Older Americans' Act. One is a
three (3) year authorization simulating what we have now.
The other is a five (5) year authorization that would
delete all funds for research, senior worker programs,
grants for elder abuse, White House Conference, and
would remove the Benefit Specialist Program.

The Casebum-Kennedy Bill was discussed.
The Department on Aging will apply for a $500.00
Reynolds/NAMP Grant to be used for emergency home -
delivered meals.
The Senior Citizen Day is scheduled for Thursday, May
15, 1997 at W.I. T. C. in New Richmond. This year it
will promote caregiving .
DayAway II will start in 1997 at the Lutheran Church in
Somerset one day a week. We are now looking for
volunteers and clients.
The 1997 Center Spring Card Tournament was discussed
and scheduled.
Aging and Handicapped Transportation, Inc. will now
reimburse staff for washing nutrition site vans.
DEER PARK: Dualne Percells performed at the
Christmas Party. The Coat Raffle cleared $300.00.
February Van Trip to Rice Lake was approved.
GLENWOOD CITY: Shirley is working on recruiting
new participants and volunteers. Had "A Day To
Remember" and Christmas Party. Bingo is going well.
Birthday Party is today.
BALDWIN: The new Community Center will be done
the end of May. Went on a light trip in December. Old
Tyme
Dance is being scheduled for March.
HUDSON.* Had a Birthday and Christmas Party and
Pooh Corner kids came to sing. Discussion on shopping
days. The Center Board is happy to have Bonnie there.
NEW R.ICHMOND, Went on a light trip and had a
Christmas Party. The site will have a Green Thumb
worker soon.
SOMERSET, The Panhandlers performed at the Center.
The Quilt Raffle cleared $300.00. A valentine party is
being planned. St. Anne's students came over to make
Christmas Trees and the High School French class came
to sing .

participants . In February, the Nursing Home Director
will help with activities at the Center. Had a Christmas
Party and went on a van trip to Menomonie Victorian
homes.
A motion was made by Andy Germain and seconded by
John Mortensen to adjourn meeting at 11:02 a.m.; motion
carried.
