Lee Kellaher was excused for 15 minutes to attend another meeting and was present at 9:15. Andy Germain, Delores Loock, and Larry weisenbu_rger were excused. Also present were Sandy Gehrmann, Cindy Icard, Jonna Fedie, Barb Blaisdell, Shirley Marlette, Janice Thompson, Donna Zacharias, Joanne Matysik, Pam Benson, and Bonnie Brande. Discussion on age groups, poverty levels, and minority populations. This information will be included in the 1998 County Plan. Long Term Care Redesign: There will be preliminary hearings on June 18 at Hayward and June 19 at Eau Claire on Long Term Care Redesign, NEW BUSINESS: Tornado Video and Information - Pam Benson: Pam distributed information and showed a video on how to plan for emergencies and natural disasters. Vegetable Gleaning Reports -Mary Lou Smith: Mary Lou contacted Friday Canning. The Centers will contact some youth groups to see if they will participate in it an intergenerational activity. Mary gleaning and make Lou will report at future meetings, SCAN Updates: Sue Heim will continue to do the SCAN publication and go out to business' to get ads, Conference Reports: Sandy and Barb went to Madison last week for two (2) conferences. Barb distributed paper plates for the "Paper Plate Campaign". On the plates participants will write what the Department on Aging Programs. mean to them and the outcome for using the programs. The plates will be collected and sent to Congress in a month. Discussed how to move the congregate program into the 21 st century. Aging Network Training emphasized Redesign and Information and Assistance. Staff Reports. A letter was read from Verne Nelson from AARP. Nancy Roen will do a seminar on insurance on June 17th at 1: 00 p.m. at the New Richmond Nutrition Site. Each site should have someone attend. Brochures distributed. for the June 10th Alzheimer's Training were Ethel Peterson will be having an auction newt Tuesday in North Hudson. Food will be provided by the Faith In Action Program as a fundraisier, . The County Fair is scheduled for July 24th -July 27th. A Silent Auction is being planned for the Faith In Action Program. A report was given by Joanne Matysik for the Area Agency on Aging Advisory Board. The Woodville Center won the 1997 Card Tournarrient and received a case of coffee. The new Baldwin/Hammond van has been ordered. �1'1'L�'/l;�l�l'1'Li'K KLYVKla: DEER PARK: Participants playing cards . Martha Mabis at the site today. GLENWOOD CITY: Bingo going well. Had a Mother's Day Party. Martha Mabis did a presentation on Tuesday. A Salad Bar Luncheon is being scheduled for August. Participants are going to Glenhaven for dinner this Sunday. A June trip is being planned. BALDWIN. Plans are being made for the new Community Center. A Thrift Sale is being planned for June 6th and 7th . HUDSON: At the Birthday Party, Richard Jackson played the piano. Participants going on a tour of Hanley Place. The Center is hosting a Mini -Card Tournament. Planning a State Park Picnic. NEW RICHMOND: A Pontoon trip is planned on June 27th in Amery. Martha Mabis did a presentation. Sue Kramer is scheduled on June 2nd to do I.D. Pictures. Birthday parties are being planned every month,* The Center Board is working on getting entertainment. SOMWRSET. No representative. WOODVILLE. On May 6th participants went to Tom Vandeberg's greenhouse. The Happy Grannies performed on April 3rd. Participants went to the Antique Shop in Baldwin. Planning a trip to either Dunn or Pierce County in June. A motion was made by Phil Hammer and seconded by John Mortensen to adj ourn meeting at 11; 45 a. m . ; motion carried.
