ROLL CALL: Members present were Herb Giese, Phil Hammer, Andy Germain, Larry Weisenburger, Lee Kellaher, Mary Lou Smith, John Mortensen, Ann Healy, and Jean Schroeder. Roberta Moe was excused and Irene Inlow was absent. Also present were Sandy Gehrmann, Cindy Icard, Jonna Fedie, Barb Blaisdell, Shirley Marlette, Janice Thompson, Elma Liberty, Peggy Patterson, Lorraine Jacobs, and Bonnie Brande. Long Therm Care Redesign: The Long Term Care Redesign application for the St. Croix County Pilot was denied. No County in AAA District 6 received the pilot. Peter Tropman, from the Management Group in Madison, gava a presentation to 67 people interested in Long Term Care Redesign on October 14th. Redesign implementation may not happen until the year 2000. Joe Leean, Secretary from the State of WI Department of Health and Family Services, said there will be a functional screen used throughout the County. Acute care would not initially be part of redesign. Discussion followed. Cory Olson, Somerset driver, has resigned due to health reasons. An update was given on Delores Loock. Cory and Delores did many generous things for the Department on Aging Programs, County Plan and Budget '98: On October 2nd a Public Hearing for the ' 98 County Plan and Department of Transportation 85.21 Grant was held. Barb Blaisdell distributed the projected 3 % increase in the 85.21 Grant budget. There is $5, 522 more in funding per the Governor's Budget ($4, 602 D.O.T. and $920 County) . There will be an additional $500 available for the River Falls Shared Ride Taxi that they had requested for 1998. A motion was made by Larry Weisenburger and seconded by Andy Germain to accept the amended 85.21 Grant Budget and application; motion carried. Discussion on ridership and donation policies. There will also be a increase in the '98 Benefit Specialist Program. A motion was made by Phil Hammer and seconded by Andy Germain to approve the ' 1998 County Plan and Budget per changes; motion carried. Fundraisers: The following is a for the program: Meat Ball Dinner Silent Auction list of fundraisers and what was made Shonies Share Night Day Away Club Faith In Action Faith In Action $ 782.10 $3 9041060 $ 48.00+ The Faith In Action Program is applying for a $15,000 Grant ($5,000 every year for 3 years) from the Helen Bader Foundation for in -home respite care. Sandy displayed the new Russ Berrie Bears that are on sale in our office. NEW BUSIl�TESS: Newsletter Survev: A survey called "Does your newsletter deliver the right message was distributed. Sandy asked people in attendance to do survey and the results will be discussed at the November 20th meeting. A complementary letter from a SCAN participant was react. Staff Reports: "Stopping Medicare and Medicaid Fraud and Abuse" and "What You Can Do to STOP Medicare Fraud" forms were distributed. There is an estimated loss of $100 million a day in Medicare and Medicaid fraud. Sandy explained that part of this problem is that numbers are coded wrong. People should not give out their Medicare numbers when they participate in a service that is that is publicized "free". Sandy and Sue Kramer are looking for professional retired volunteers to be on a Medicare/Medicaid Fraud Task Force. Sue will attend the November Council Meeting and discuss this further. The computer equipment that was ordered has not yet been set up in the office. Sandy explained that the Computer Services Department staff is very cooperative and helpful, but they are short staffed. A motion was made by Larry Weisenburger and seconded by Andy Germain not to pay the invoice for computer equipment until it is installed; motion carried. Shared Ride Taxi fee schedule discussed. A letter was read from Bumper to Bumper that they are closing their shop in Hudson. DEER PARK: Getting ready for the Fall Quilt Raffle. Flu shots will be given next week. An evening meal will be held on November 11th. GLENWOOD CITY: BINGO is going well. The Leaf Trip was October 3rd to Plum City. A Halloween Party is being planned. BALDWIN: The Recreation Committee is working on a schedule for entertainment. Flu shots are this morning. Participants enjoy playing BINGO and cards. HUDSON. Had the monthly Birthday Party and a magician performed. Waiting for the new computer to arrive. Flu shots will be next week. Pooh Corner is going to come to the Halloween Party. The Center Board is going to elect new officers. NEW RICHMOND: Flu shots will be next Wednesday. Mr. Persells will perform on Tuesday. Trips to Amery and Hudson are being scheduled. A 20 year Anniversary Party is being planned for November 7th. SOMERSET: Had a picnic at the Senior Center, Martha Mabis did a presentation on sandwiches. On November 11 th, 4th graders are going to come and perform and on November 13th there is a volunteer dinner scheduled. WOODVILLE,* Cards and BINGO are being played. The Salad Bar Luncheon was a success. The 20th Anniversary Party is scheduled on November 11th. Martha Mabis did a presentation. A motion was made by by Andy Germain to motion carried.
