COUNTY BOARD OFFICE COUNTY CLERK 1 1 • i • • 1 • 1 1 I 1� 0 COUNCIL ON AGING MEETING DECEMBER 18, 1997 GOVERNMENT CENTER CALL TO ORDER: Chairman, Herb Giese, called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. ROLL CALL: Members present were Herb Giese, Phil Hammer, Andy Germain, Larry Weisenburger, Lee Kellaher, John Mortensen, Ann Healy, Rhoda Wood, and Jean Schroeder. Mary Lou Smith and Roberta Moe were excused. Also present were Sandy Gehrmann, Cindy Icard, Jonna Fedie, Barb Blaisdell, Shirley Marlette, Janice Thompson, Lorraine Jacobs, Donna Zacharias, Gladys Ellefson, Ethel Peterson, and Peggy Patterson. Sandy congratulated Herb Giese and Lee Kellaher for their elections to Finance and Public Protection Committees . ign: Jim Schmidlkofer, from the Bureau on Aging, will attend a western Wisconsin Area Agency on Aging on Friday to discuss the future A the WWAAA. Options were discussed if the agency is to be dissolved. NEW BUSINESS: • The Model Standards for Information and Assistance were distributed. ildren: The St. Croix County Department on Aging and Faanily Services St. Croix will be co -sponsoring Brown Bag Lunches about You and Your Aging Parent". Dates and locations will be discussed at a later date. Elder Abuse Grant: Sandy worked with Ron Lockwood of Long Term Support to apply for a $4, 654 . Grant for Elder Abuse. Additional funds were requested if turned back by other counties . ie Foundation Grant: The Faith In Action Program received a $1, 750 Grant for computer equipment and a new telephone. Staff Reports: The Nutrition Program to date is more meals than last year. serving over 4, 500 CESA II is looking for Senior Volunteers to work with 5' and 6' Graders, The St. Croix County Department on Aging Senior Info -Lines brochure was distributed and approved. The United Way Grant for the Center Board Coalition A St. Croix County was discussed. The forms need to be in the office by January 5'. The vehicle inspection was done on Monday . Martha Mabis was at the Nutrition Site on Tuesday and the nurse was giving blood pressure on Wednesday. Next Tuesday the Christmas Party is scheduled. GLEN WOOD CITY: Christmas Party will be on Tuesday. Went to see Christmas decorations last night. BALDWIN: Martha Mabis did a presentation. Went to look at the Christmas decorations last night. The Christmas Party will be December 23rd. The Center Board has some new members. Participants attended the Computer training that was held at the Hudson Senior Center. The Center Board brochures will be printed. HUDSON: Had the monthly Birthday Party. The computer training's were held. Participants went on a light trip on Monday night. A Scandinavian Dinner is being planned. There will be a Hawaiian Party in January. The site is looking for a van driver for Thursday and Fridays. NEW RICHMOND: The Christmas Party is today and Martha Mabis is there. The AARP Meeting is on Tuesday. Participants went to a school concert. River. Falls: BINGO and Bridge are played every week. Had a Potluck for the Christmas Party. SOMERSET: On December 10' the Pan Handlers performed. Martha Mabis came yesterday. The Christmas Party will be on Tuesday. WOODVILLE: Cards and BINGO are being played. Took a van trip to Hudson to go shopping and to eat. Christmas Party is planned for Tuesday. Martha Mabis was at the site. A motion was made by Larry Weisenburger and seconded by John Mortensen to approve a van trip for Deer Park to go shopping in Eau Claire; motion carried. A motion was made by Ann Healy and seconded by John Mortensen to adjourn meeting at 11:15 a.m.; motion carried.
