Meeting called to order by Chair Ron Raymond at 9:OOa.m. Members present:
Chairpersons Ron Raymond and Tom O'Connell, John Krizek, Max Ihrke, Tim
Ramberg, Rich Loney, John Borup and Dave Fodroczi, Excused: Gerald Peterson.
Others present: Janet Smith.
Next meeting time: Tuesday November 11, 1997 at 8:30 a.m. in room 1281..
Minutes: Corrections were made, minutes were approved.
Personnel Issues: One Technical support person has been hired. A candidate for
the User Support specialist position is in the building today reviewing the
Computer Services department. Personnel is checking on references. With the
qualified people in selection pool an offer will be made for the User Support
specialist training position
Kathyrn is coming along with Physical therapy. She will be coming in on a part-
time basis pending her doctor's recommendation
Budget Update: Finance removed some of the consulting funds into the
contingency fund if needed. Laptop was removed from the Computer Services
budget with the understanding the laptop in Emergency Government will be
available to the computer services staff on a "as needed" basis.
CLUES: Concerns were raised by all members as to the authority or "chain of
command" in regards to Clues issues. A $50. fee was charged to all departments
and municipalities in 1997, that fee was increased to $100.00 for the 1998 budget.
This committee questions the purpose of this fee. Motion was made by John Krizek
to put a moratorium on all user fees related to Clues and send to Finance a request
For appointment of some group or committee to formulate a plan on how to
implement policies and procedures in relation to Clues' projects and how are these
projects to be paid for. Seconded by Rich Loney. All in favor motion passed.
Long Range Plan: We are moving from a centralized processing environment to a
distributed environment. With the migration off the HP3000 and the purchasing of
Pc's we are moving towards the distributed environment. We believe we are
headed in the right direction. Would like to see the Long Range plan updated it
seems we've changed it without having any written documentation. Perhaps one or
two of the new hires have real strong system design. If so, we may ask them to look
at our current design and evaluate it.
Internet: We need a specific consultant for the Internet to configure just for our
system. Firewalls need to be in placed to prevent outside sources from accessing
our information. John Krizek is still in communication with the Middle school and
the mounting of the repeater box on our building. The Middle school currently has
access to Badgernet and would like to provide internet access to the High School.
The county would like to exchange the use of our building for access to Badgernet.
Motion for Adjournment. Seconded. Meeting adjourned @ 10.13 a.m.
Respectfully Submitted,
anet Smith
