CROIX COUNTY GOVERNMENT CENTER, HUDSON, WI PRESENT: Chairperson Tom Dorsey, Vice Chairperson Dick King, Jack Breault, Cyril Cernohaus, Bill Peavey, Ron Raymond and Jim Winzer. Ex-Officio members George Menter and Bill Oemichen. Staff included Ellen Denzer, Dave Fodroczi and Tom Nelson. ABSENT: Kermit Thompson, excused. Chairperson Dorsey called the meeting to order at 4:05 p.m. Motion by Raymond, seconded by Breault to adopt the agenda. Motion carried. Introductions All members were introduced during a roll call of appointed members. It was explained that County Board Chairperson Bob Boche had appointed Tom Dorsey as Chairperson and Dick King as Vice Chairperson. Meeting Schedule Committee members discussed preferred meeting times. All but Cernohaus and Winzer were generally available for day or evening meetings. Several preferred mornings. Cernohaus has a work conflict with evenings and Winzer has a work conflict with days. Consensus was reached to meet the third Thursday of the month at 9:00 a.m. for the morning. Other meetings or times would be subsequently decided by the Committee. Role of Steering Committee Staff reviewed the project summary and Steering Committee mission statement and responsibilities. Committee members and staff discussed community involvement options, tax implications of development, diversity of communities and need for flexibility, groundwater and wellhead protection concerns, annexation and potential tax sharing. A suggestion was made to review process and outputs for county planning in neighboring Washington County. Winzer asked if changes to the existing zoning ordinance could be made while the update was in process. Nelson indicated that some modest changes are being considered. Committee members asked for a list of Committee membership and indicated an interest in planning and zoning training opportunities in the early part of the process.
