COUNCIL ON AGING MEETING
APRIL 209 1994
GOVERNMENT CENTER
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at
9 : W a.m. by Chairman, Myrtle Munns .
ROLL CALL: Members present were Larry
Weisenburger, Myrtle Munns, Lee Kellaher, Clarence
Malick, Herb Giese, Andy Germain, Jerry Neumann,
Roberta Moe, Ralph ,Bader, Delores Loock, and Phil
Hammer. Emma Joyce was excused. Also present were
Cindy Icard, Sandy Gehrmann, Barb Blaisdell, Jonna
Fedie, Elma Liberty, Carol Gorke, Janice Thompson,
Sherry Crosby, Peggy Patterson, Helen Hagen and
Kathryn Grootenhuis .
ADOPTION OF AGENDA: A motion was made by Lee
Kellaher and seconded by Clarence Malick to adopt the
agenda; motion carried.
A motion was
made by Herb Giese and seconded by Phil Hammer to
accept minutes as printed; motion carried.
Legislative Update:
Resolution to "Maintain the
Americans Act" was tabled
Discussion followed.
Interfaith Grant discussed.
Integrity
by the
Older
County Board.
USDA was cut $500.00.
Upcoming Events:
Upcoming events are: Appreciation Luncheon 4/27, Red
Wing Senior Expo 5/4; Active Older Adult Health,
Fitness Day 5/31; Lovely Liebowitz Sisters 8/23; Vinegar
Tree 1015; and WITC has scheduled Computer Courses

NEW BUSINESS:
Elder Abuse Video: Elder Abuse video was shown.
Elder Abuse Annual Rein: 1993 Data Sheet
distributed. Elder Abuse has gone up in St. Croix
County. Discussion on Law Enforcement's domestic
abuse calls not showing up on the statistics. Lee Kellaher
and Myrtle Munns will check with Long Term Support,
D. A.'S Office, and the Sheriff's Department regarding
the reporting system. The Elder Abuse Annual Report
may not have all abuse cases computed on total due to
difference in departmental reporting procedures,
Nutrition and
Transportation Statistic Comparison sheets distributed and
discussed. Sandy reported on overall Program Reports,
Committee Reports:
Personnel: Director's evaluation was completed.
Transportation: Lee Kellaher made a motion to purchase
a 1989 15-passenger Dodge Maxi -Van for $3500. Motion
was seconded by Jerry Neumann; motion carried. Not
looking at purchasing a new van at this time.
Operations: Planning a booklet for survivors.
STAFF REPORTS:
In an effort to better assess the needs of St. Croix
County, a Survey of St. Croix County Nutrition Programs
was distributed to Program Coordinators to disburse at
A letter of resignation from Harold Satterlund was read.
The Phillip Morris Grant was discussed.
River Falls Medical Clinic is developing a Patient
Advisory Council. Clarence Malick nominated Myrtle
Munns to represent the Department on Aging. Larry
Weisenburger seconded nomination; nomination carried.
Best Press has hired an Ad person for SCAN.
Operations Committee will discuss volunteer meal costs

Aging & Handicapped Transportation, Inc . received
$828.00 from Hudson Area United Way.

DEER PARK: The Center purchased a popcorn
machine. Participants are doing exercises before meals.
Gave a $25.00 donation to the 4-H Easter Egg Hunt. A
Senior Picnic in the Park is being planned for summer.
Had 99 people attend card party. Evening meal on
Tuesday.
GLENWOOD CITY: Evening meal tonight. Had 89 for
card party. On April 30th the weekend meals from
Nursing Home will end. Had Easter Party.
BALDWIN: The village may be building a new
Community Building. Card party scheduled for April
26th. Card sales going well.
HUDSON: Discussed Birthday Parties. Using real cups
instead of paper products. Gave out Easter Baskets at
party. Large print loan shelf will start. Card party went
well. Electric organ was donated to center.
NEW RICHMOND: The card tournament was great.
Senator Alice Clausing was at nutrition site. The center
will do a brat & pop fundraiser at More4.
SOMERSET: The center is going to donate $25.00 to
each school library in Somerset. Senator Alice Clausing
will be coming to site next Tuesday.
WOODVILLE: Had good time at card party. New
participants are coming to the Nutrition Site.
A motion was made by Herb ,Giese and seconded by
Andy Germain to adjourn meeting at 12 : 00 p.m. ; motion
carried .
