ROLL CALL: Members present were Larry Weisenburger, Myrtle Munns, Lee Kellaher, Clarence Malick, Herb Giese, Andy Germain, Roberta Moe, Phil Hammer and Marylou Smith. Jerome Neumann and Delores Loock were excused. Also present were Cindy Icard, Sandy Gehrmann, Barb Blaisdell, Jonna Fedie, Elma Liberty Carol Gorke Janice Thompson Helen Hagen and Donna Zacharias . A1�VY'1'1U1V UrAli�1�11JA: A motion was made by Herb Giese and seconded by Andy Germain to adopt the agenda • motion carried. Introductions were made for new Council Member, Marylou Smith. ACTION ON PREVIOUS ES: A motion was made by Larry Weisenburger and seconded by Lee Kellaher to accept minutes as printed; motion carried. uNr'uvian�� �suauvr;aa: OAA Reauthorization: It is the 30th Anniversary of the Older Americans Act. Discussion on how the Reauthorization Older Americans Act will effect the ' 96 Budget. Senior Health/Fitness Day: Discussion on the May ' 96 Older Adult Day and Health & Fitness Day that was held A the Hudson YMCA, NEW BUSINESS: Nominating Committee Report: Larry Weisenburger and Roberta Moe nominated Myrtle Munns as Chairman and Herb Giese as Vice Chairman. Nominations were closed. Election of Officers: A motion was made by Clarence Malick and seconded by Andy Germain to Elect Myrtle Munns as Chairman and Herb Giese as Vice Chairman; motion carried . County Fair Schedule: The schedule was distributed for volunteers. The parking for volunteers will no longer be free per note read from Gayle Sullwold . Popcorn, juice, and rice cakes will be sold. The Hog & Chicken Calling Contest will again be held on Saturday at 6: 30 p.m. DayAwav Opening: The first day of DayAway Club was Friday, June 30th, with 4 participants . The Woodville Nutrition Site is preparing the meals. The program needs more volunteers. A motion was made by Larry Weisenburger and seconded by Andy Germain to authorize Sandy Gehrmann and Sue Kramer go to Brookdale Foundation Training in Washington D.C. on October 14 - 17. 6 Faith in Action Grant: The Department on Aging is in the process of applying for the $25,000 Faith in Action Grant. The grant will last 18 months and pay for salary and supplies. It will be the responsibility of the person hired and the churches participating to maintain the position and program after the grant is gone. The program will serve any adult with priority given to people over age 50. Interfaith Caregiving video shown. Staff Reports Foot Care Clinics were discussed. Larry Weisenburger will be the representative from St. Croix County on the Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups. The Council on Aging will pay for his membership . Why people come to senior centers was discussed. Repair on Air Conditioning Units in two vans discussed. A motion was made by Lee Kellaher and seconded by Clarence Malick to go to Finance Committee on Friday, n an emergency basis, and recommend funding to repai or air conditioning units; motion carried. The Aging &Handicapped Transportation, Inc . will write to D.O.T. and ask to get ' 86 Dodge van off fleet. Aging &Handicapped Transportation, Inc . will have its annual meeting on July 19th. ai i .�/ 1000�1I i .Lit iULYV N i a: DEER PARK: Had Birthday Party last week. A picnic in park is being planned. Will sell popcorn at Deer Park ballfield next Saturday. GLENWOOD CITY: A Evening meals are going Luncheon is being planned. picnic is being planned. very well. A Salad Bar BALDWT: On July 18th a 90th Birthday Party is being planned. The Center will sell cards at County Fair. Will have a Thrift Sale at the Dutch Days Celebration. A motion was made by Clarence Malick and seconded by Andy Germain for the Department on Aging to co- sponsor dance on August 18th if the Baldwin Center Board wishes to do so. HUDSON: The County Fair and Pepper Fest discussed. Someone will come and give painting lessons to participants . Bingo will be on Mondays and Wednesdays. Had June Birthday Party. NEW RICHMOND.* 4-H Club helped with the brat & pop stand at More4. The "Hat Day" was last week. A garage sale will be in August. SOMERSET. The center in process of moving to Somerset Town Hall. Had a Queen and King in parade. 10 cent sale went well. WOODVILLE: Bingo and cards are Wednesdays. Sue Helgeson did a puppet show. On July 28th there will be a Salad Luncheon. A motion was made by Clarence Malick and seconded by Larry Weisenburger to approve the Deer Park van either go to the Willow River State Park or Shell Lake and the New Richmond Van go to T.J.'s Resort on July 14th and Clear Lake Museum; motion carried. A motion was made by Herb Geise and seconded by Andy Germain to adj ourn meeting at 12 : 05 p . m . ; motion carried.
