COUNCIL ON AGING MEETING

GOVERNMENT CENTER
CALL TO ORDER: The in was called to order at
9:05 a.m. by Chairman, Myrtle Munns .
ROLL CALL: Members present were Larry
Weisenburger, Myrtle Munns, Clarence Malick, Herb
Giese, Roberta Moe, Phil Hammer, Mary Lou Smith, and
Jerome Neumann. Delores Loock and Lee Kellaher were
absent and Andy Germain
were Cindy Icard, Sandy
Donna Fedie, Elma LibE
Thompson, Helen Hagen,
was excused. Also present

ADOPTION OF AGENDA: A motion was made by
Larry Weisenburger and seconded by Clarence Malick to
adopt the agenda; motion carried.
ACTION ON PREVIOUS ES: A motion was
made by Clarence Malick and seconded by Phil Hammer
to accept minutes as printed in their entirety except that
the date of last meeting was July 6, 1995, and the Senior
Health/Fitness Day was in May '954 motion carried.

County Fair: Attendance was down this year in our
building. Popcorn and juice sales were $400.00. We
will have the Hog & Chicken Calling Contest again next
year. Also for the '96 County Fair, we will need
volunteers to help load the van.
NEW BUSINESS:
River Falls Clinic Advisory Committee: Myrtle Munns
reported on the first committee meeting.
Program Reuorts: The 2nd Quarter Reports were
distributed. Discussion on the unduplicated count and the
importance of participants filling out intake forms.
1996 Budget/Trust Accounts: The 1996 Budget
Summary was distributed and each program was
discussed. III F will be eliminated. There was much
discussion on the Trust Accounts. On September 30th,
the Older Americans Act will expire. It looks like they
will reauthorize it but with cuts. A motion was made by
Clarence Malick and seconded by Herb Giese to approve
the '96 Budget except to transfer $2,000.00 from C4's
donations and $1, 000. 00 from C-2's donations and to the
County allocation $3,0000 motion carried. Advocacy and
Lobbying handout distributed.
Staff Reports
The Faith in Action Grant went in last week. The
Department on Aging needed to prove tax exempt status
with a letter. A letter from IRS regarding tax exempt
status would cost $800.00. A motion was made by Herb
Giese and seconded by Jerry Neumann that we forward
information of Code IRS 6115 to Corporation Council to
review in order to satisfy any future grantor's requests to
prove tax exempt status; motion carried.
A motion was made by Jerry Neumann and seconded by
Mary Lou Smith to apply for a grant from the Helen
Bader Foundation for DayAway. Motion carried.
There is crisis funding available for people who are
experiencing problems from the extreme heat. The
funding includes fans, air conditioners and repairs, and
emergency shelter.
Correspondence was read.
The air conditioning in Hudson's van was repaired. The
Woodville van does not have its air conditioning fixed
yet .
Aging &Handicapped Transportation, Inc . wrote a letter
to Department of Transportation to have the blue 86
Dodge van released.

DEER PARK: No report given.
GLENWOOD CITY. An evening meal is planned for
tonight. Had a picnic. Had a Salad Luncheon on Friday
and took in $415.75. A motion was made by Jerry
Neumann and seconded by Mary Lou Smith to approve a
van trip on September 15th to Stillwater, motion carried.
BALDWIN: Sold greeting cards at the County Fair and
made $40.00. The Center Board is putting on a senior
dance tomorrow. The monthly Birthday and Hawaiian
Party will be on Wednesday.
HUDSON: Planning on Pepper Fest activities. Some
participants went to the Open House of the Somerset
Senior Center. Had monthly Birthday Party.
NEW RICHMOND: Participants went to Somerset's
Open House. Had a Mix -Match -Day. A 25 cent sale is
being planned on September 15th.
SOMERSET: Had a picnic yesterday. Open House was
very successful with 66 in attendance. Peggy thanked the
Somerset Town Board for their support with the new
Senior Center. Playing cards on Wednesdays from 10:00
- 11:00.
WOODVILLE: Playing Bingo on Tuesday's and cards
on Wednesday's. Salad luncheon went well.
A motion was made by Mary Lou Smith and seconded by
Jerry Neumann to adjourn meeting at 12 :15 p.m.; motion
carried.
