EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE
HUDSON, WI - JANUARY 11, 1995
Present: Charles Mehls, Lavern Burke - County Board; Max Ihrke -
Sheriff's Department; Leon Pettee - Hudson Ambulance;
Jack Colvard - Emergency Government; Bruce Brantner - 911
Communications; Two representatives from Metro Aerial
Structure (St. Paul Tower).
Excused: Linda Luckey - County Board
Absent: Rick Pfaff - Somerset Police Department
Meeting was called to order at 3:11 p.m. by Vice Chairman Charles
Mehls. The agenda was adopted on a Burke/Pettee MOTION. Minutes
of the December 81 1995 meeting were approved on a Pettee/Burke
MOTION.
OLD BUSINESS:
A) Bruce Brantner reviewed the chart handed out at the last
meeting, outlining the various tower options that have
been received from the tower companies. The chart
included options for;
1) Hammond Tower - There was discussion on any possible
uses for the tower elsewhere in the County.
Burke/Pettee MOTION that St. Paul Tower remove the
tower and antennas for a sale price of $5,600.00.
Carried.
2) Emerald Tower - Lengthy discussion as to what to do
with the site. Out of the five bids that were
presented, three were for purchase and two were for
demolition.
Burke/Pettee MOTION to table any decision till a
later date in order to give Brantner time to consult
with the corporation counsel to determine the
County's liability if the County sells the tower and
site. Carried.
;3) County Road N Tower - Brantner explained to the
committee, that the County doesn't own the land, at
this site, but does own the tower.

New Business:
A) Old Radio System Equipment - Disposition; Brantner
presented a letter from Mr. Murray, U.W.-River Falls
WRFW-FM. The letter requested that the County donate the
old microwave system, that is being replaced, to the
university to be used by WRFW-FM Radio.
Pettee/Burke MOTION to donate the old system to the
university and that the university remove the equipment
at no cost to the County. Carried.
B) Committee Fire Service Representation; There was
committee discussion on this issue with the
recommendation that at the next Fire Chief's Association
meeting, the members elect a representative to serve on
the committee.
C) Radio Contract Change Orders; Brantner presented
information on four change orders that have occurred
totaling $1,064.00.
Burke/Mehls MOTION to approve the change orders as
presented to the committee. Carried.
D) Bills and Vouchers; Pettee/Burke MOTION to approve the
bills as presented. Carried.
Brantner advised the committee on the current status of the radio
project; iron work came in the last week of December for the King
Stack and things were progressing rapidly now that the iron work
has been received.
Adjournment: Being no further business, the meeting adjourned at
49.30 p.m. on a Burke/Pettee MOTION.
