Present: Joe Gustafson, Donald Johnson, Doris Peterson, Miles Wittig, Jerry Neumann, Roland Thompsou, Chuck Mehls, Max Ihrke, LaVern Burke, Dan Fedderly, Willard Jochimsen and Dolores Ford. Meeting called to order by Chairman Thompson. Motion to adopt agenda passed. Next meeting will be October 12th. Motion to approve minutes of previous meeting passed. Roland introduced Joe Gustafson our new representative from Hwy Safety. Old Business: We have not heard=from the City of Hudson as to signing along Frontage Road. Thompson will contact' -them again. STH 65 & CTH H in Star Prairie - signs have been updated. USH 12 at exit 4. The bridge is now repaired and traffic moving satisfactorily. The intersection of USH 12 and CTH UU was discussed. The volume of traffic there causes problems getting from CTH UU onto USH 12. Motion was made that we ask Department of Transportation to look at the possibility of extending the 45 MPH zone on north of its present location to an area north of this intersection. It was suggested that traffic signal light control here would be the answer. Dan advised that work is being done on the bicycle path east of New Richmond at the R.R. crossing. Discussion on the various proposed changes in the area -- the intersection of Carmichael Road and CTH UU and Carmichael Road extension to the north. Monies are not available. New Business: Chuck Mehls related to us the importance of the child restraints and discussed the usage of same. Non compliance appears to occur more frequently within city and village limits. Our seat belt survey out in the county did not show up non- use. Chuck emphasized the importance of anyone at the scene of an accident not moving a child. Wait for the medical team to get there. The Speed Wave and Corridor Safety Programs are, moving along good. A Committee has been established to review the Traffic Safety Commissions. Roland Thompson and Jake Jochimsen are on this committee. It is felt that some committees are not functioning as expected. On STH 35/64 the public has expressed concern about the problem on getting access onto the roadway. The amount of traffic and distance between two driveways causes a problem. Discussion on changing signing in Houlton. Was felt that when the new corridor proposal is completed it will help eliminate this problem. Motion to adjourn at 2:40 pm. Carried. Respectfully submitted, Dolores Ford
