Linda Luckey was excused. Bill Krueger and Jack STAFF MEMBERS: Sheriff Paul Burch, Chief Deputy Max Ihrke, Child Support Administrator Lynn Holmes, Debra Staberg, Ann Gustafson and Renee Carufel. OTHERS PRESENT: Don Magnus, Chuck Koller, Gaylord Stoner, Bob Pierce, John Heintz, Bob Maitrejean and Michelle Lyksett of the New . Richmond News Motion by Krueger/Breault to approve the agenda Carried. Motion by Giese/Breault to approve the minutes Carried. as published. of August 21. LARGE ASSEMBLY ORDINANCE: A group of people from the Somerset and Star Prairie townships were present to explain to the committee their concerns regarding the concerts at the River's Edge in Somerset. Their main concern is lack of county control over these large assemblies. They would like to see an ordinance to regulate the size of these crowds. Everyone expressed the problems connected with these events. Art Jacobson informed them that we will try to work together to write new laws and change this situation. Greg Timmerman will be working on a new ordinance also. SHERIFF'S REPORT: Sheriff Burch informed the committee that the average daily population for the Jail for the month of August was 70 inmates. Burch explained that he should raise the average daily population to 90 for the 96 budget. The committee agreed that this would be acceptable. Motion by Breault/Giese to approve the Sheriff's bills of $9656.97 and the bills for the Jail for $45,414.88. Carried. The revenues for August were $102,983.08. MAINTENANCE COMPUTER PROGRAM: Motion by Breault/Giese to approve transferring $3585.00 from the Polk/St Croix Drug Fund to purchase the vehicle maintenance computer program. Carried. CELLULAR PHONES: Discussion was held. Motion by Krueger/Giese to buy sixteen cellular phones plus four antennas installed from US West for approximately $3500.00 This money will come from the Polk/St Croix Drug Fund. Carried. MEDICAL EXAMINER'S REPORT: Motion by Breault/Krueger to approve the bills of $2996.71. Carried. DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S REPORT: Motion by Krueger/Breault to approve the b0lls of $713.31. Krueger reported from the Personnel Committee that all other part time positions presented to the committee were approved except the LTE Victim Witness Specialist. A special meeting will be held on Sept. 19th at 8*15 a.m. CHILD SUPPORT: Lynn Holmes reported on the new copy machine that she would like to purchase for Child Support. Discussion was held. Motion by Krueger/Giese to purchase a Lanier #6725 with the cost not to exceed $6000. Carried. There is a possibly that the County Library might purchase the old one. Lynn reported that the request for a temporary clerk was approved at the Personnel meeting. She also reported that Governor Thompson proclaimed September as Child Support Month. It was reported at the September 7th meeting that the Child Support staff was working on the 1995 Federal and State Tax Intercept Project. The Child Support Sepcialists had worked 2,261 hours at a cost of $38,295. As of the 7th, there were 825 debts totalling $5,733,659 ready for certification. The project deadline was set for September 12th. The final figures for the 1995 certification are 998 debts totalling $7,337,209.
