Update of Large Assembly Ordinance ANNOUNCMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE POSSIBLE AGENDA ITEM5 FOR NEXT MEETING: ADJOURNMENT (Agenda not necessarily presented in this order) SUBMITTED BY: Arthur Jacobson DATE: 7/07/95 COPIES TO: County Clerk Notice Board/News Media Committee Members *ADDITIONS/CHANGES/CORRECTIONS PUBLIC PROTECTION COMMITTEE MEETING July 10, 1995 MEMBERS PRESENT: Art Jacobson, Jack Breault, Herb Giese and Bill Krueger with Linda Luckey being excused. STAFF PRESENT: Paul Burch, Max Ihrke, Martin Shanklin, Eric Johnson, John Krizek, Karen Humphrey and Renee Carufel. The meeting was called to order by Vice Chair Art Jacobson at 1:00 p.m. Motion by Giese/Breault to approve the agenda as published. Carried. Motion by Breault/Krueger to approve the minutes of the June 29th meeting. Carried. The next regular meeting will be August 7th at 1:00 p.m. MEDICAL EXAMINER'S REPORT: Marty Shanklin reported on the autopsies he preformed during the month of June. Motion by Breault/Krueger to approve the bills of $4686.19. Carried. BILLS AND VOUCHERS: Motion by Breault/Giese to approve the bills of $20,833.58 for the Jail and $13,661.66 for the Sheriff's department. The revenues collected for the month of June were $25,762.19. SHERIFF'S REPORT: Paul Burch reported there were 2 fatalities in the month of June. Two officers were injured on duty and will be off work for approximately 6 weeks. Burch also reported that there has been no maintenance in the Jail since July 1, 1995. Discussion was held. The Sheriff reported that Ralph Robole has requested that the part time maintenance position for the Jail be made permanent and extended to 25 hours per week. John Krizek was called in to explain the situation. He informed the committee that there was a freeze on any permanent hiring and it was up to Ralph Robole to find 25 hours of maintenance within the current work force for the Jail. He also stated that Debra Kathan was in the process of hiring a Limited Term Employee for the 25 hours per week that is needed. DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S REPORT: Motion by Krueger/Giese to approve the bills of $1951.21 for the District Attorney. Carried. REVIEW OF DOUBLE BUNKING: Fact and figures of double bunking were again discussed. Karen Humphrey will prepare more reports to bring to the committee at the next meeting. LARGE ASSEMBLEY ORDINANCE: The committee reviewed the Ordinance we currently have 4n place. There are a 1ot of changes that should be made to update this. The committee will study this and bring these changes to the next meeting. STORAGE BUILDING: Max Ihrke reported that the storage shed has not been moved at the present time. He would like to have this done before fall. He will get in contact with Ralph Robole about this. Motion by Giese/Jacobson to adjourn at 2:50 p.m. Carried.
