HomeMy WebLinkAboutPublic Protection 05-08-95PUBLIC PROTECTION COMMITTEE MEETING MAY 81 1995 MEMBERS PRESENT: Art Jacobson, Bill Krueger, Herb Giese and Jack Breault arriving a few minutes late. STAFF PRESENT: Sheriff Paul Burch, Chief Deputy Max Ihrke, Medical Examiner Marty Shanklin, Lynn Holmes and Renee Carufel. The meeting was called to order at 1:00 Jacobson. Motion by Giese/Krueger to P.m. by Vice Chairman Art published. Carried.approve the agenda as Motion by Giese/Krueger to approve the mi Carried. nutes of April llth. The next meeting will be June 9th at 9000 a.m. BILLS & VOUCHERS: Motion by Krueger/Breault to a pprove the for vouchers of $59,938.98 for the Sheriff's Department and $30 845.70 the Jail. Carried. Revenues for the month of April were $40r659.67. Motion by Giese/Breault to approve the vouchers of $1754.76 for the District Attorney's office. Carried. Motion by Krueger/Breault to approve the vouchers of $1416.28 for the Medical examiner. SHERIFF'S REPORT: Sheriff Burch reported that the average daily population for the Jail for the month of April was 61. He also reported that the safety programs of Speed Wave and C are in place. These are funded by the State. ARE Eau Claire will send four or five inmates to our Jail possibility of a lot more thiwith the s summer. CHIEF DEPUTY REPORT: Max Ihrke reported the new investigator is working out very well and is taking additional schooling, gahrage from rke Iasked the committee if it would be possible to move the the Boody property closer to the Government Center so It could be used for storage for the Sheriff's de artmen Discussion was held. The committee instructed him to P t, Prices for this project and report back to them. get some Ihrke also reported that he might be applying for grants through the Office of Justisome state education. ce Assistance for job training and drug FUNDING FOR BOAT PATROL: Krueger, Giese and Burch are working on this and will come back to the committee with their findings in June. Discussion was held on whether it is practical to have patrol officers type their own reports or hire additional clerical staff for this. Max will collect data on this for the committee to study. CHILD SUPPORT REPORT: Lynn Holmes reported the update on the KIDS program. Significant progress has been made in computerizing the data. Additional support cases are thereby being established.
