Linda Luckey was excused. STAFF PRESENT: Sheriff Paul Burch, Chief Deputy Max Ihrke, Captain Roland Thompson, District Attorney Eric Johnson, Medical Examiner Marty Shanklin, Child Support Adm. Lynn Holmes, Victim Witness Specialist Ann Gustafson and Assistant Julie Juliar. Renee Carufel was also in attendance. The meeting was called to order at 1:05 by Vice Chairman Art Jacobson. Motion by Breault/Krueger to approve the agenda as published. Carried. Discussion on the February minutes was held. Giese made the following amendment. "The committee asked Rich Loney to do a cost study to evaluate how much revenue the Jail is actually bringing in and to make recommendations to apply such revenue towards any future Jail expansion." Motion by Giese/Breault to approve the amended minutes. Carried. MEDICAL EXAMINER'S REPORT: Committee asked Shanklin to bring a copy of the autopsy criteria to the next meeting. Motion by Breault/Krueger to approve the bills of $3022.83. Carried. The next meeting will be April 11th at 1:00 p.m. Victim Witness Specialist Ann Gustafson introduced her assistant, Julie Juliar. She also explained the duties of the assistant in her office. EXPENDITURE FROM DRUG FUND: Ihrke explained the need for an enclosure around the fan hood in the lab to test drugs. Motion by Breault/Giese to take $1300.00 from the Drug Forfeiture Fund to purchase this safety enclosure. Carried. DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S REPORT: Eric Johnson appeared before the committee to address any questions. Motion by Breault/Krueger. to approve the vouchers of $1828.12. Carried. SHERIFF'S REPORT:' Motion by Krueger/Breault to approve the vouchers of $11,965.93 for the Sheriff's department and $28,210.46 for the Jail. The revenues received for the month of February were $24,159.35. The average daily population for the month was 59 inmates. Sheriff Burch requested that a copy of the Feb. 7th minutes with the paragraph highlighted pertaining to the increase in maintenance personnel for Jail be sent to the Finance Committee. The committee asked Sheriff Burch to determine how and why this happened in order to avoid it in the future. CHIEF DEPUTY REPORT: Ihrke reported that the implementation of the computer system is making progress. Discussion was held of how this would help the surrounding communities. JAIL REPORT: Burch reported the concrete extension of the bed in the medical cell was completed. The night supervisor is working out very well. All open positions except one are filled at this time. CAPTAIN'S REPORT: Captain Thompson reported the safety and educational programs that are State funded will begin next week. The County will be working more with the State Patrol to enforce weight restriction requirements this spring. CHILD SUPPORT.: Lynn Holmes reported on a sample survey she conducted on updating child support files. She will report back more when this is finished. Krueger reported on flex time. He reported that Deb Kathan will rewrite the policy to clarify the criteria for adopting flex time. Motion by Breault/Giese to adjourn at 3:05. Carried.
