PUBLIC PROTECTION COMMITTEE MEETING
January 9, 1995
MEMBERS PRESENT: Art Jacobson, Bill Krueger, Herb Giese and Jack
Breault. Linda Luckey was excused.
STAFF PRESENT: Paul Burch, Max Ihrke, Roland Thompson and Renee
Carufel.
The meeting was called to order at 1:00 p.m. by Vice Chair Art
Jacobson. Motion by Krueger/Giese to approve the agenda as
published. Carried.
Giese/Breault made the motion to approve the minutes of the Dec.
9th meeting. Carried.
The next meeting will be Feb. 7th at 1:00 p.m.
OPENING OF CAR BIDS: Bids for Ford Crown Victoria's were submitted
as follows: Dave Holt of Hudson-$17,762, Capitol Ford of Madison-
$16,884, Kayser of Madison-$17,377. A bid for a Chev. Caprice for
$19,228 was received from Polar Chevorlet of White Bear Lake, MN.
Discussion was held. Breault made the motion to accept the bid from
Capitol Ford for up to four Crown Victorias plus a used Dodge
Intrepid minus our trade-in's to be purchased within budget. Bill
Krueger seconded the motion. Carried.
BUSINESS HOURS FOR THE HEALTH CENTER: Discussion was held.
Krueger/Breault made the motion to authorize the Health Center in
New Richmond to post their business hours. Carried.
BILLS AND VOUCHERS: Breault/Giese made the motion to approve the
bills of $11,439.32 for the Sheriff's department. Carried
Giese/Krueger made the motion to approve the bills of $16,819.84
for the Jail. 0
The revenues from the Sheriff's department and Jail for the month
of December were $58,579.56.
Breault/Krueger made the motion to approve the District Attorney s
bills of $2968.05. Carried
Giese/Breault made the motion to approve the Medical Examiner's
bills of $1259.07. Carried
CHIEF DEPUTY'S REPORT: Ihrke reported that a microphone has been
purchased for $73.00 for the intercom system in the Sheriff's
department. The maintenance department will install the additional
wiring at no additional cost. The initial cost for this project
was $800.
CAPTAIN'S REPORT: Captain Thompson reported that there were 12
fatalities in the County in 1994. There has been one at this time
for 1995. The number of deer/car accidents is greatly increased
from previous years.
Giese/Breault made the motion to adjourn at 4.45.
