January 4, 1995 meeting
Meeting called to order by new president Marilyn Fruit.
Barbara Nelson volunteered to record minutes.
Seven members present constitute lack of a quorum.
Discussion re: by-laws, meeting locations and times. Next meeting
set for March 1, 1e30 p.m. at the Private Industry Council (PIC)
office.
President suggested the agenda for this meeting be planning for the
year to come. Discussion ensued.
*concern on legislative issues/impact
-federal hunger programs
-transportation
-prevention programs
-Barb Blaisdell distributed copies of CWAG (Coalition of
Wisconsin Aging Groups) and WAND (Wisconsin Association
Nutrition Directors) letters and Legislative Update from
CWAG
-possibility of legislative forum at March meeting
*Work Not Welfare project -- impact on St. Croix County
*Housing -- availability, affordability, trends in specialty
housing
*Volunteerism -- recruitment (drastic reduction in St. Croix
county), joint training, Time Bank
*Update Resource Directory -- need to change continuously as
revisions noted; annual revision requests --concern
with staff time and postage costs
Agency Sharing --
PIC -- due to federal legislative changes lay offs occurring
immediately. Possible rescind of budget.
YMCA -- Tom extended thanks for identification of people who can
use the facility or provide funds. Encountered obstacle of people
not wanting to "take charity". Everyone pays what they can afford;
no differences in service, membership card, etc. Continue to
encourage others.
Public Health -- All programs continuing. Reproductive Health now
