MINUTES OF THE ST. CROIX COUNTY TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE
Meeting of July 23, 2008
The meeting was called to order by Chairman King at 9:35 A.M.
Roll call was taken with King, Grant, and, Rebholz in attendance. Others present for all or parts of
the meeting included Chuck Whiting, Tim Ramberg, Bill Rubin, Mike Armstrong of Momentum
West, Robert Long of Lockridge Grindal Nauen Attorneys at Law, and Dennis McGrann of
Lockridge Grindal Nauen Attorneys at Law.
A motion was made and seconded (Grant/King) to adopt the agenda as published. Motion carried.
Momentum West is a Regional Economic Development Organization composed of ten counties
Barron, Chippewa, Clark, Dunn, Eau Claire, Pepin, Pierce, Polk, Rusk, and St. Croix.
Lockridge Grindal Nauen Attorneys at Law has a Federal Transportation and Infrastructure Group
(FTIG) that work to develop and implement federal relations and public policy advocacy programs
on behalf of groups that include local units of government.
Mr. Long and Mr. McGrann shared the FTIG's current mission, past successes, and their desire to
work with St. Croix County and other Wisconsin local units of government to create unified
support and focused strategies in obtaining Federal funding for local units of government relating
an 1 -94 corridor. They shared various wants and needs of various groups they represent. Their
hopes are that this coalition could coincide well with the upcoming Federal Transportation
Reauthorization efforts and position local projects along portions of the 1 -94 corridor in both
Wisconsin and Minnesota for funding.
One of the first strategies that may be beneficial for local units of government include
authorization for a study which would set the stage for identifying specific projects and their needs.
Interested jurisdictions along the corridor that desire to join the coalition and participate in the cost
of the efforts could share in the estimated $60,000.00 cost associated with the lobbying efforts
that the FTIG could provide along with deliverables for consideration.
Other contact information was shared including WCHA, WisDOT, TDA, and surrounding counties.
Long or McGrann will contact Whiting with more information and deliverables for consideration for
future meetings along with any other interested parties.
Adiournment: A motion was made and seconded (King /Grant) to adjourn at 11:25 a.m. Motion
carried.
