HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES BUILDING

St. Croix County, Wisconsin
WHEREAS, the Building Facilities Planning Ad Hoc Committee has worked with SEH
to assess the conditions of the Government Center, Health and Human Services building, the
Health Center building (Nursing Home) and the Ag Center buildings utilizing a facilities
condition index; and
WHEREAS, the facilities condition index for the Health and Human Services building
indicates further investment to maintain and fix the building would not be cost effective; and
WHEREAS, the facilities condition index information was reviewed with the County
Board on April 20, 2010; and
WHEREAS, discussion at the Committee of the Whole meeting on June 1, 2010
indicated a consensus to no longer invest County funds in the Health and Human Services
building for anything other than addressing health and safety needs; and
WHEREAS, the Building Facilities Planning Ad Hoc Committee has recommended
studying existing space in the Government Center, the Ag Center building and the Health Center
building (Nursing Home) to best determine the amount of overall employee work space that can
be accommodated, and that this should be done prior to consideration of any new construction or
leasing; and
WHEREAS, this was reviewed by the Administration Committee on October 18, 2010
which agreed the County should commit to vacating the Health and Human Services building
and voted unanimously to recommend this to the County Board.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the County Board commit to vacating the Health
and Human Services building as soon as practical.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Building Facilities Planning Ad Hoc Committee
and the Administration Committee shall continue studying options for the best use of existing
building space prior to considering whether additional building work space is needed for the
County's work force.
