The St. Croix County Board of Supervisors does ordain as follows:
WHEREAS, the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors is required to bring the reclamation
requirements in the Nonmetallic Mining Ordinance into compliance with changes to Chapter NR
135, Wisconsin Administrative Code, adopted in December 2006 by the Wisconsin Department
of Natural Resources;
WHEREAS, the Land and Water Conservation Committee has recommended amendments to the
operational and reclamation requirements to protect groundwater and surface water from
negative impacts of mining activities below the groundwater table consistent with the St. Croix
County Natural Resources Management Plan, adopted July 2000; and
WHEREAS, the St. Croix County Nonmetallic Mining Ordinancw does not at present adequately
address nonmetallic mining in relation to agricultural land uses and to storage of fuel tanks; and
WHEREAS, the amendments to the Nonmetallic Mining Ordinance will provide protection for the
health, safety and welfare of county residents, property owners and businesses;
THEREFORE, Chapter 14 of the St. Croix County Code of Ordinances is hereby amended as
shown in the attached document titled "AMENDMENTS TO ST. CROIX COUNTY CODE OF
ORDINANCES LAND USE AND DEVELOPMENT CHAPTER 14 NONMETALLIC
MINING" dated June 19, 2007 and effective on July 1, 2007.
