THE ST. CROIX COUNTY OUTDOOR RECREATION PLAN

St. Croix County, Wisconsin
WHEREAS, St. Croix County's Outdoor Recreation Plan was last updated in 2000 and is
outdated; and
WHEREAS, the Land and Water Conservation Committee, working with County staff,
private citizens, and organizations, and after a public hearing, has prepared a St. Croix County
Outdoor Recreation Plan; and
WHEREAS, public parks promote the public health, comfort, convenience and welfare; and
WHEREAS, St. Croix County continues to provide outdoor recreational opportunities to
promote the well -being of individuals and families, improve the attractiveness of the county and
contribute to the social and economic health of the county and its communities; and
WHEREAS, the Land and Water Conservation Committee has evaluated funding options,
including grant assistance from the Department of Natural Resources, and has determined that an
update to the St. Croix County Outdoor Recreation Plan is required to obtain funding assistance;
and
WHEREAS, the County and its municipalities desire to apply to the Department of Natural
Resources for matching grants under the Lakes Management Protection Grant Program, St. Croix
Lakes Cluster Priority Lakes Project, Land and Water Conservation Program, the Acquisition and
Development of Local Parks Program, the Urban Green Space Program, the Urban Rivers Grant
Program, the Recreational Trails Program, and the Stewardship program; and
WHEREAS, sec. 59.52 (6)(a), Wisconsin Statutes, authorizes counties to acquire and hold
land for recreational purposes; and
WHEREAS, the St. Croix County Outdoor Recreation Plan is an element of the County
Development Plan;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors hereby
adopts the St. Croix County Outdoor Recreation Plan as updated, pursuant to sec. 59.52(6)(a),
Wisconsin Statutes.
