OLD AND NEW BUSINESS
1. Discussion regarding ADRC application — Council on Aging met earlier in the day and took
the stance that they would not accept the Planning Group's recommendation to integrate the Council
on Aging into an Advisory Group. Mr. Peterson stated it is important for seniors to have a voice
with the county board. Ms. O'Connell stated it's important for there to be collaboration.
In order to move forward with the Planning Group's recommendation, and acknowledge the
stance of the Council on Aging, the Ad Hoc group discussed a model that would include the ADRC
in Health & Human Services, with an Advisory Committee which includes some cross - membership
with the Council on Aging. The Council on Aging would continue to oversee the Department on
Aging as a separate unit. The Department on Aging and ADRC would work closely (with joint
staffing, trainings, marketing, etc.) to provide quality services to consumers while building
relationships among staff and board members. The following was discussed:
County Board
HHS Board C
ADRC Advisory Board

identity for the ADRC, and building relationships. Discussion also occurred regarding finding a
new location for the ADRC — potentially in Baldwin.
In follow -up to the last meeting, Kjersti distributed e-mail response from Cynthia Ofstead,
DHFS regarding explanation of demographic maps reviewed December 13 th : percents in legend
refer to the percent in each region. Largest numbers will always be in the biggest cities, however
the maps help identify areas that might not be noticed when the focus is on the larger cities.
