POSSESSION OF METH PRECURSORS

WHEREAS, St. Croix County has an epidemic methamphetamine problem and has lead the state
since 1998 in the use and possession of methamphetamine; and
WHEREAS, there are approximately 33 methods of manufacturing methamphetamine and all of
these methods require the substance ephedrine or pseudoephedrine for its production; and
WHEREAS, numerous other states with large methamphetamine problems, including Minnesota,
have enacted state -wide legislation regulating the sale of ephedrine or pseudoephedrine products;
and
WHEREAS, area Wisconsin legislators Kitty Rhoades and Sheila Harsdorf are sponsors of
Senate Bill 78, an act that would regulate the sale and distribution of the precursors for
methamphetamine.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors endorses and
supports Senate Bill 78 as a necessary effort to prevent and deter the manufacture and use of
methamphetamine.
