COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING LAW AND GRANT PROGRAM
RESOLUTION NO. AI( 26 US)
St. Croix County
WHEREAS, St. Croix County is one of the fastest growing counties in the state and
nation; and
WHEREAS, St. Croix County and many of its local communities face a number of
challenges for public policies, facilities and services related to continued strong growth in our
area; and
WHEREAS, county and local comprehensive plans will contribute to a healthy economy,
healthy environment and cost- effective public facilities and services; and
WHEREAS, Wisconsin's Comprehensive Planning Law provides a general framework
for local comprehensive planning that includes a definition of a comprehensive plan, provisions
for citizen participation, and requirements for consistency between comprehensive plans and
related land use policies; and
WHEREAS, several St. Croix County communities have prepared or initiated
comprehensive plans under Wisconsin's Comprehensive Planning Law; and
WHEREAS, Wisconsin's Comprehensive Planning Grant Program partially reimburses
local expenditures for comprehensive planning; and
WHEREAS, several St. Croix County communities have received financial assistance
from Wisconsin's Comprehensive Planning Grant Program to prepare their comprehensive plans.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the St. Croix County Board of
Supervisors supports Wisconsin's Comprehensive Planning Law and Grant Program and
requests that the Governor and Legislature enact state budget policies to continue the law and
local funding.
